Following threats by extremist Islamic group, several corporations, chain of pubs ban England flag
Following warnings by extremist Islamic group al-Muhajiroun, in which the group said that the red cross in the England flag symbolizes the 'blood thirsty crusaders' and the occupation of Muslims, some of the largest companies in England have ordered their workers not to wave the flags.
The flag has recently appeared in England on everything from bikinis to cars, and sold in endless versions in stores.
But the Islamic protest forced some corporations, such as cable companies NTL, Heathrow airport in London, and even the Drivers and Vehicles Licensing Agency to ban the flag in every form due to fears from reactions of Muslims.
The Sun tabloid newspaper has in recent days launched a campaign to bring back the flag, and has published a blacklist of companies preventing their workers from expressing their patriotism at work.
The Sun said that a large pub network has banned drinkers from entering with symbols of the national team.
The hero of the day is a two year-old toddler, who was thrown out with his parents from Leicester, because he wore the England team's uniform.
" ... Saint Anthony, the other, Saint Arnold?"
LOL.... The Patron saint of Wales is Saint David. (red angle cross)
The Patron saint of Wales is Saint Andrew. (white angle cross on blue background)
England, Scotland and Wales --- The Union in the Union Jack.
It's pure Dhimmitude to give in to any muslim complaints. The Saint George Cross is an honorable flag and has been for centuries, even when used as a crusader banner.
We might as well say that Mosques should be banned, since they are an affronts to the victims of muslim terrorism. Same logic applies.
They really aren't supposed to serve alcohol either. But of course even the 9-11 terrorists visited bars. What Texans call Titty Bars in fact.
It has.
I'm Irish.
"Wonder what is next to be sacrilegious..."
Our very existence.
I believe that you meant to say: "The Patron saint of Scotland is Saint Andrew. (white angle cross on blue background)"
:)

CORRECT. Sorry. Cut-n-paste error.
<< So now we have Fish and Chips-Eating Surrender Monkies joining their French counterparts. Churchill is about to leap out of his grave. >>
What for?
To perhaps celebrate his essential Americanism?
Or to dance a jig or two with the world's definitive appeaser of barbarians and tyrants, former prime minister Neville Chamberlain, who better represented his girlyboy electorate than has any British politician in all of time?
Well, that is, until Snatcher Thatcher and her every-bit-as-gutless Judas Gang surrendered Hong Kong into medieval surfdom and set the scene for her serially sooky successors by serially surrendering to the "ira's" bank robbing, baby killing, drug and gun-running bully boyos!
Or perhaps to cut a caper with the execrable Clement Atlee who also gave the same electorate what it wanted -- and what it also best deserved?
"The reason for all the flags is this is World Cup (soccer) season, and it seems really, really wierd that a chain of bars would ban team colors during such a time. Especially on "behalf" of a religion whose saner leaders have said they aren't offended and who don't even drink."
They haven't banned them during 'such a time', the pub chain in question has had a ban on customers wearing any football shirts for two years (as is stated in the original story, but you wouldn't have found out from the shoddily written story linked in the OP). That is not specific to the England national shirt, has nothing to do with muslims, and isn't particularly uncommon amongst city centre pubs.
Unfortunately the majority of respondents on this thread are only too willing to jump on the usual Brit-bashing bandwagon. Hey, come over to visit and you might see that, with the kick off of the World Cup less than a week away, the Cross of St George can be seen literally everywhere.
So when are the muzzies and ACLU going to sue the Red Cross for their insignia? Odd that they haven't yet, or did I miss that?
They'll sue the Swiss first. Oh, wait. The Swiss aren't letting any people like this into their country. Imagine that ?
HA!
Basically, England doesn't exist. Scotland and Wales do (they have their own parliament/assembly) but England is merely the abstract Federal District of the United Kingdom (the Westminster Parliament is the parliament of Britain; England doesn't have one). This is partialy their own fault, of course, since it was the English who were the catalysts of the Union and thus they more than the other two countries consider themselves merely "British" (like American WASP's consider themselves "just American"). This is so much the case that anti-Unionist Welsh and Scots actually refer to the English as "Brits" even though the Scots are just as British and the Welsh are the most British people in the Union!
Sorry, Alouette. I know this isn't what you pinged me for but it just aggravates the menel out of me! Just the other day I was scanning the names of great authors in the World Almanac and noticed that if they were Welsh or Scots or Irish they were labelled "Welsh" or "Scots" or "Irish," but if they were English they were labelled "British"--and I don't mean just since the Union of 1707, but all the way back to Geoffrey Chaucer!!! Eeee does that sling my hash!
I still maintain that England needs independence from the UK more than Scotland or Wales do, but the identity of the English is so subsumed into that of being "British" that it will never happen.
I wonder if lefty moslems object to the politically correct cross of St. Andrew (the Scots flag)?
This article is pure stupidity.
Regards, Ivan
Now when is that commie Ken Living Stoned going to ban that flag?
Have you seen this?
"The English in the UK are like WASP's in the US: they are forbidden from showing any nationalism but required to approve of everyone else's."
Utter rubbish.
"The Scots and Welsh are proud of their own flags but they bristle at any evidence of English identity or English nationalism by labelling it "racist.""
I've never heard a Scot or Welsh person do this. Do you have any examples?
"Basically, England doesn't exist"
Utter rubbish.
"This is so much the case that anti-Unionist Welsh and Scots actually refer to the English as "Brits" "
I live in Wales and have never heard a Welsh person do this. What are you basing your assertion on?
If they don't like the British flag flying, they should get the f*** out of Britain... or be removed at bayonet point.
