Mark Williams out at KFBK

Nothing if not controversial, Mark Williams figured to have plenty to say Wednesday about the cancellation, effective immediately, of his weeknight conservative talk-radio show on KFBK (1530 AM). Turns out, though, the talker who made a name nationally on cable TV news shows for his inflammatory opinions on immigration and terrorism was mostly gracious in discussing his parting with KFBK after five years. Williams produced solid numbers for KFBK, Sacramento's top-rated station, but his contract and added bonuses, called "talent fees," made him expensive for the station to keep, sources say. He will be replaced on an interim basis by Bruce Maiman, who has filled in on the air at KFBK recently. "It was all a budgetary decision," said Williams, who said he was told several months ago his show was in danger of being cut. "It was just a matter of the station cutting back and concentrating on the 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. time slot.

Will KFBK soon be converting to a Hispanic format? Did you install Milquetoast Maiman to prove to us that it's your sandbox? Why are you kowtowing to the Arab and Mexican interest groups by sacking Williams?

Interesting that you chose the year after FCC license renewals to stage your coup. You are not serving this community's interest. Instead you are capitulating to the above-named pressure groups.

I will be joining the legion of others who will be boycotting your station and its sponsors until Mark is returned to his rightful place--behind the microphone, between 7 and 10 pm, on KFBK.

I was just looking for an email address to tell KSTE 650 that a Spanish station was bleeding over on their 9PM show. Ironically at the time the speaker was talking about the Constitution boarders sovereignty and the Bill of Rights . I came upon your post. If this guy is all I have read he is (and he is I have heard his tripe on another station)1530 and 650 can say good bye to me

maybe KFBK should think about moving to New York or Massachusetts
