Support George Washington Holiday

Posted on 05/31/2006 4:35:20 PM PDT by David9493A

What you and I owe George Washington can never be repaid. Yet, you and I can repay George Washington in a small way. George Washington deserves his own holiday--again!

I agree.

I still believe he was our GREATEST PRESIDENT.

If Martin Luther King has his own day, George Washington should be a mortal lock to have his own day.

"President's Day" is still officially designated as "Washington's Birthday."

President Washington is dead and likely doesn't give a hoot. He wasn't the kind of person who wanted cities and days named after him, anyway.

He's on the dollar and quater, plus a state, the district, the monument, many buildings, a university, and other places named after him. He's been anything but slighted by memorials.
