I'll have to go back and read the General's biography again. I thought the F-104 that Yeager "set a record" in was the one from which he had to eject. Perhaps I'm remembering a condensed Hollywood version of events, or something.

They've rebuilt the fighter as a car, in hopes of setting a new land speed record of 800 miles per hour. The current record is 763, held by a British pilot. Hope they don't screw the pooch.
