Unfortunately in today's climate any generals who expressed even 1/2 of the sentiment that this great American did would be fired. It wasn't too long ago that USAF Gen. Michael Dugan was fired for saying we would bomb Iraq back into the Stone Age (Gulf War I - fired by then SecDef Cheney).
This was the same Patton who was injured and paralyzed in a car accident (and later died), an accident that to this day leaves many questions unanswered.
He was not a political general, like Ike and so many others. He himself stated many times that he had no political aspirations after the war. He also stated numerous times that he wanted to resign his commission and go home and tell the American people what was really giong on.
And so when his usefulness to the Allied cause ended, he is fatally injured in a car crash.
Remember, Ike had presidential aspirations by this time.
Too bad the command ranks of the military today don't have more like him.

There would be, if we would stop allowing politicians to run wars.
If the press even in WWII attacked Patton for slapping a soldier, imagine what today's MSM would have done to Patton.
