Well my good friends George and Laura have yet to see the movie United 93. To see it they have invited 2 people from each of the families of those that died on 9/11 aboard Flight 93. After a late lunch/early dinner with the President and First Lady but only one of us will be able to view the movie w/ them.
Since my mother has not seen it yet - but is ready to now - she will go in with them to view it...and I will get an up close and personal tour of the White House.
This, on the heels of Memorial Day, should be amazing. It's going to be heavy-duty on my mother but I think she'll handle it well....fingers crossed.
For anyone who has not seen it please do - it is amazing. You'll walk out having gone through every emotion possible in about 90 minutes...and you'll leave knowing full well why we are fighting.
Hope everyone had a safe and great weekend!
God Bless America,
Chris Proud son of Patrick 'Joe' Driscoll Flight 93
Never Forget Never Forgive
I'm so sorry for your loss! I hope having the experience of meeting Pres. Bush and Laura will help you and your mother heal. Your family will be in my thoughts and prayers.
Maybe you could clear some confusion for me. I watched "Flight 93" this weekend on DVD at home. I haven't gotten to the theater yet for "United 93" though I expect to very soon.
What's the relationship between these movies? One for DVD and one for the theaters? They seem to be totally different directors, casts, etc. so it weirds me out that they came out at the same time. Perhaps it's been posted already, but what's up with that?
God Bless You and your family, I'm very happy that the POTUS is showing you and your family the respect and condolences you deserve.
Tony Snow I am certain makes a few visits here every day and you can also be certain that there are other people in the WH who lurk.
With the amount of grief he gets here I don't know what GWB would think.
Put me on your ping list for the "after-glow" report. And if you don't have a ping list, get one :)
Went to DC 2 weeks ago, and all I wanted was to see the White House. Didn't happen. Tell me all about it.
And, so sorry about your father. Wish it hadn't happened.
Thanks for the post. Tell George and Laura that Lancey says "hi".
Don't forget to write a minute by minute report on the lunch. It's not just for us but will serve as a treasured family keepsake to leave your grandchildren.
I am so sorry for your loss. NO Chris, we will NEVER forget.
I will never forget the struggle that my fellow citizens had to endure on September 11, 2001.
I am humbled and honored to hear from you on this thread, and I wish you Godspeed on your visit with the President.
God Bless the USA and let us not forget this enemy we are fighting!!!
They're two different films produced independantly.
The DVD you have is an A&E Channel production.
United 93 is the film in the theater.
Thanks. I needed to hear that - and I agree...
Wow, Chris. Thanks for letting us know. I'm looking forward to your report.
I brought my 14y/o son to see United 93 the first weekend, and we thought of you and your dad. He was very, very quiet at the end, holding my hand. God bless you and your heroic father.
Chris, sorry ... I did not mean to leave your dear mother out of my prayers... I'll lift her up as well.
Well said Julie. Thank you.
Thanks for your reply. I had no clue how to answer, as I was just as confused as dayglored.
Deferring to your Mom makes your Dad smile at who you've become, I imagine.
Best.
That was Bernard Sliney who gave the initial order to shut down all air traffic - he played himself. I thought he was steely and terrific.
Glad your Mom is ready. It was the most "hatred" & "heroism" wrapped up in one movie I could imagine. Every American should see this film...very difficult but so glad I went.

I can't imagine better company in which to view this movie. Will you be able to sleep tonight?
BTW When is the President going to attend CPAC? Perhaps getting out & about with more conservatives would be helpful :)
Okay, thanks!
I don't have a TV, so I initially missed the fact that "Flight 93" from January was a "made-for-TV" movie. I went to the video store looking for "United 93" (which of course isn't out on DVD yet, d-uh!) and saw "Flight 93", got it, and kept saying, "This isn't what was on the trailers..." Now I understand!
"Flight 93" was very good. From the trailer I saw for "United 93", it promises to be even better.
God bless the passengers and crew of '93 for demonstrating the America will Never Give Up. And to chris_in_nj, my prayers for you and your family, may your strength in your loss continue to energize and inspire the rest of us!
