Snippets: Cancun police chief of staff Wilfredo Flores Saucedo, 56, and his bodyguard, Alejandro Xicotencalt, were shot dead in a department vehicle Monday night, Police Commissioner Adrian Samos Medina said. They were driving home on a busy avenue in the Caribbean resort, one of Mexico's biggest tourist areas. Flores was a former army colonel.

Smuggling charges in Austin after SWAT arrests
Snip: Immigration officials Tuesday were still interviewing 17 immigrants taken into custody to determine how many are smugglers and how many paid to be smuggled into the country.
Immigration officials said they have not had a chance to interview everyone in custody, but said the 17 people face possible charges. At least five will be charged with alien smuggling. The rest will likely face administrative charges and will be deported.

In the almost 10 years since that deportation, Eulalio Haro was convicted of driving under the influence twice, criminal trespassing, public drunkenness, endangering the life of a child and disorderly conduct, and he was deported twice more.
On each occasion he found his way back to northern Illinois. "This adds to the argument that we need to control our borders," McHenry County State's Attorney Louis Bianchi said Monday. "It confirms it."

State civil law? Wonder why he isn't filing RICO claims? Seems to me that using RICO should be the model for ANYONE adversly affected by an entity who is encouraging or enabling illegal immigration. Besides which, RICO claims would get much more publicity, bigger damages, and may have a greater affect on the enforcement of immigration laws.

Also, wanted to know if you had heard an interview by Tancredo in which he stated that he WOULD consider a guest worker program AFTER the border is secured. I thought he was adamantly opposed to guest worker, amnesty, or anything else that would lead to citizenship and was, in fact, for attrition only?
And, even though Gannon won, I personally don't think that Jacobs was that far behind. I think it was close enough that immigration is still going to weigh heavily. I can't believe they had to rely on Bush and Laura Bush making last minute phone calls.

In the Utah race, the big RINOs, including the President, backed Cannon with $$$, yet a virtual unknown (Jacobs) got a good percentage of the vote despite having half of Cannon's re-election money.
Very few people in Utah actually voted, so it was decided by a small percentage of the state. :^(
Lou dobbs reported on how Bush (GW AND Laura) 'made' calls of desparation on Gannons behalf. Seems awfully underhanded to me. And then they said something about Gannon's brother (?) logging on to websites and ripping Jacobs apart, failing to remain impartial (is he in politics too?). I wonder if he was here?
Then, dobbs reported that Bush called Pence to the WH to discuss his 'no amnesty compromise'.
My disdain for Bush over this issue is growing by the minute.

I lost any respect I had for him when even after 9/11/01 he refused to protect our borders and enforce existing immigration laws. It was stupid then, it's still stupid, and he fights any attempts at stopping the tsunami from Mexico (or anywhere).
His lame speeches about "fighting the war against terrorism" are hollow lies as long as America's borders are open.

Justices rule AGAINST foreign suspects
Snip: The Supreme Court ruled against two foreign suspects Wednesday who argued an international treaty required police to inform them that they had a right to contact their governments when they were arrested.
By a 6-3 vote, justices did not decide whether a 1969 treaty signed by the United States and several other countries requires suspects to be informed of such a right.
Writing for the majority, Chief Justice John Roberts said the two men - one from Honduras, the other from Mexico - are not entitled to suppression of statements to police or another chance to raise objections based on the treaty after failing to do so at trial.
Better way needed to send cash to Mexico
Snip: The Telegraph’s June 18 edition contained an article, “Living the Mexican Dream,” which overlooks one major problem: People pay high prices to send money to Mexico.
Mail a money order, and it could well get stolen from the mail, and cashed with a forged endorsement at a check-cashing service. It can cost $10 to wire $100 dollars, and there is some exchange-rate gouging. These factors are a considerable tax on the lucky recipients.
What is needed is a secure postal facility in Mexico where banks would have post office boxes. Instead of mailing a money order to Mama and Papa, the worker would send it to their bank account.
Letters addressed to the secure facility, with its own town name and postal code, could be separated by USPS machinery. These would be delivered securely. Perhaps the facility could be as close to the U.S. border as one Nashua shopping mall is to the Massachusetts border.
Each Mexican bank would bring its mail to its nearest branch, where employees would deposit the money orders into bank accounts established at their sister branches all over Mexico.
Recently some of the farmers in upstate NY were complaining the laws were being enforced. We know at least what they want, the borders open so they can have all the world's cheap labor at taxpayer's expense.

And another thing is that you have to buy Mexican car insurance because American car insurance is not valid in Mexico. Once you cross the border, there are usually several places you can stop and purchase car insruance which is pro-rated depending on the number of days you plan to be in Mexico.
Well, if Bird Flu hits, I wouldn't want to be a person working for Tyson.

Mexico election agency to assure 1 millon dead don't vote
Snip: Mexico's election regulator said it will ensure 1 million dead people on the national voter registry don't affect the outcome of the July 2 election with safeguards that prevent Mexicans from casting two ballots.
Voters are required to present a valid identification card with photo and receive a mark on their thumb with indelible, purple ink after voting, said Luis Ugalde, president of the Federal Electoral Institute. That will prevent Mexicans from voting twice, he said.
