A little late in joining the party--what did the British reporterette mean earlier when she said this might be the last time Blair visits the US in his capacity as PM? Is he planning to resign?

He said during the last election that he intended to serve his term out and go out at the next election. Indicating that he would endorse his long time adversary and one time friend Gordon Brown. Many rumours abound that with Reid's recent promotion that may favour him.

However there is much unrest in the Labour Party and feeling of uncertainty and Blair has lost a lot of his back benchers backing. In fact the other day a bill only went through because the Conservatives backed it many labour MPs voted against or abstained.

The press have suggested he will be gone by Christmas after this evening I am not so certain.

With the President saying he wants Blair to stay as long as he is President I feel that Blair will try and dig in and stay even if he increasing loosing backing, it is unlikely the Labour MPs will rise up and vote him out as the Conservatives did with Margret Thatcher but they might. Blair loves the world stage with GWB saying this IMHO he will try his utmost to achieve this.
