I know well the feeling. It's as if Maggie is still with me each moment of the day. We have always leaned on each other. And she hasn't stopped helping me get through each day. I can tell you it is mighty comforting too.

Love, bernie

Chief, this is, simply, magnificent.

Morgan, I want you to know something..

The memorial behind the Chief honors those men who raised our flag. Our flag was raised on Iwo Jima that day by five Marines and a Navy Corpman. My uncle was there that day to see the original Iwo Jima flag raised. I never knew this about him until long after he was gone. It just wasn't something that ever came up. Go figure! We just found out this week that my son was an honor grad several months back. He never mentioned it, I happened across it accidentally.

My dad, WVNan's hubby, and your Gram all served 'together' and that line of service continues this very day- it began with the very founding of this country. You know, Chief and my hubby & brother all served and between Chief and I, come to think of it, we currently have five active duty Marines.

Your Gram's role for the dedication ceremony for this memorial was no small thing. I can not express what an honor it was that was bestowed upon her that day. An honor not 'given' to her, an honor earned. Needless to say, it is not at all simple to comprehend how much she herself was honored to be chosen. She was by nature, an 'appreciator', something she and I had discussed some time ago. An appreciator makes a conscious or even unconscious decision to appreciate all the wonder in their world. So I want to make clear I don't think it was the honor so much as it was the ability to be of service that she appreciated the most. Chief understands this, he is cut from the same cloth. God bless you, Chief.

Your flag, Morgan....the one I'm sending... is my flag. Right from my yard. There weren't many people that could or would understand my emotions when this flag was raised, but I knew your Gram could and would, and did. She shared the moment with me...and I was so absolutely beyond honored, beyond blessed, and so very thankful to share that moment with her...

because my flag, your flag, our flag... was also raised, in my yard, by five Marines.

I so love her, Morgan, and will always appreciate the honor and blessing of knowing her.

I just put that last post up and then saw yours. If she involved in that grocery store episode, it was a very sweet moment.

My father-in-law died this spring, and maybe it was a premonition on my part, I don't know, but after that I couldn't go back to where Maggie and I were before my father-in-law died. I was, I guess, unconsciously bucking up for the inevitable, having gone down this very road Maggie traveled, with my Dad. She knew that.

It didn't work, though. And I guess I knew it wouldn't. I'm a blubbering mess today.

I'm going to take my daughter shopping this afternoon. She and Morgan are roughly the same age. I need to quit thinking and shopping with a teenager is a sure remedy for that ; ) Just kidding, Morgan!!! LOL!

Kevin, Thank you for Posting, and Hugs in our Lord Jesus Christ! You have Been in my Prayers Off and On, whenever our Maggie would Post a Request for our Prayers for whatever the Need was at the Time. She was a Special and Precious Lady, Blessed by our Lord of Grace and Love. Our Lord Knit Together a Family on the Freepers Finest Thread where our Maggie made Most of her Posts, and we Miss her More than can Be Described by Human Words.

This is my Favorite Part of your Post:

"However, the best gift she has given me was a religious basis by starting me in Sunday School at a very early age. That basis led me to accept Christ as my savior at 16 years old."

How I Praise God for that! (Thank You, our Gracious and Wonderful Savior!)

I will Never Forget your Dear Mother, and Look Forward to Seeing her Again. (She is Living Far Away Right Now, having Changed Residences to our Heavenly Father's House, but she is Rejoicing with Eternal Joy in the Presence of our Shepherd-King!)

Thank you for Blessing us, and your Entire Family is in my Thoughts and Prayers.

Hi Kevin, it's wonderful to hear from you. I've talked to Steve fairly often, but have not met you. This your Aunt Nan. Bet you didn't know that you had aquired an extra aunt. Steve adorned me with that position and I accept it with great pride. Your Mom and I were spiritual Sistahs and we made much of that fact. We had so many things in common we could have been sisters. Both born and raised in the South six months apart. We both moved a lot in our life. I lived in Fla. and visited all of the places where she lived except Alaska.

Did you find the memorial thread for your Mom? If not we can tell you how to find it. Your Mom was perhaps the most loved Freeper ever. It's like the light has gone out of the places where she used to hang out. Everyone is tying to carry on, but you can tell it's an effort to be cheerful.

Yes, your Mom gave you a great legacy. The greatest gift was introducing you to Jesus Christ. Praise God you are continuing in church with your children.

Your Dad called this morning before I got up (late nights require sleep in). If you talk to him, tell him that I didn't get a chance to call him back. I'm in the middle of our annual camp meeting. It's ten days of old fashioned camp meeting at an historical United Meth. campground, with open sided tabernacle, great preaching, music and children's camp. The evangelist is staying at our house. That is why I have no free time. Tell him that I will call the minute I get a chance. Tomorrow of course is Sunday and as a preacher you can imagine how busy I will be. Just maybe I'll get a chance after church to call. Tell him I'm thinking of him and keeping him in my prayers. May God strengthen and comfort all of you. Hugs to all the family.

Love, Aunt Nan

You said that so well, I'm going to return it to you ; )

I must say, I have had the blessing in this life of walking through a heavenly cloud of fragrance. And I believe when you say these words, you have captured her essence in total.

Amazingly, before you posted these words, I was shopping with my daughter last night when someone passed by me and a cloud of fragrance-a deep, rich, sweet perfume- followed, and I immediately thought of Maggie and all her wonders. I haven't had any 'good' perfume in ages and my second thought was, "I'm going to get some of the good stuff, so I leave a cloud of deep, rich, sweetness in my wake.

We had a heat index in the hundreds yesterday, and I wondered just what others noticed when they passed by ME lol!

I know there is a gooooooooooood sermon in there ; ) I remember a good sermon from the other end of that spectrum that was titled, "When you hang out in the pig-stye, you start to smell like the pigs." : )
