BTW is there some way you can get that to her family? I know they would love to have it. Thank you so very much for doing that. It's beautiful.

How are ya?

I had the strangest experience tonight-I saw a woman who made me think of Maggie. We both just stopped and looked at each other...never spoke. Maybe I made her think of someone, too, I don't know. It was a very strange moment, like time stood still.

I copied these recent posts of Maggie and Bernie on the right side of the tribute: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1627144/posts?page=43#43

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1637259/posts?page=2417#2417

I placed the Tribute to Maggie bear the Iwo Jima statue so all the vistors could read about her.

After the graduation, I moved the tribute to the Molly Marine statue where it will stay till someone at Parris Island moves it.

The brand new Marine standing next to the tribute in the photos is PFC Stacy Valentin, my son's girlfriend, who became a Marine today! She was really honored to take the photos with the tribute. She said the statue of Molly Marine inspired her on the tough days of boot camp as she marched past it. She said because of women like Maggie, she is a Marine herself today!

I considered it my honor to make this small tribute to a very fine Marine that I had the pleasure of knowing. May she rest in peace.

Chief, how can I say "thank you" in a way that describes how much I appreciate the memorial you made and placed for Maggie. And, gee whiz, there I am at P.I. along with Maggie and Bernie. How cool is that? I feel so humbled that you included that picture. It was one of the happiest days of my life. I finally got to meet my Sistah. Ah shucks, there go the tears again.

Please Chief, after a day or so, send that memorial to Bernie or to me, or to Steve, or to the Freeper Museum (I just now had that idea. A Freeper Museum). I would hate for all that beautiful work to get lost. At least hang it on the wall in your office. Thanks again. You are one great Marine. Oh, and I can tell that Stacy is going to be one awesome Marine too. Semper Fi.

I've come back several times to look at the picture of Stacy and this immortal Marine and each time... it is more beautiful than the last.

I finally was able to get on the site! This is LadyX's second eldest son. I was on vacation in CA when I received the news of my mother's passing. I had been preparing for this for some time now but was still hit hard by the call.

I am comforted, though, by the fact that she is in a far better place than we are...somewhere she looked forward to going to..somewhere we all look forward to. I am also comforted by the love and support of all her family and freeper family! I have read most every prayer thread and other threads which describe the love everyone had for my mother. I had talked to her often during the last few years and time and time again she relayed to me information concerning the wonderful friends she made on free republic and how she loved sharing and receiving stories.

I look forward to seeing my mother again in heaven where we can continue our conversations. She was always an inspiration to me and had a tremendous impact on my life. Some of the characteristics and/or traits I inherited from her were honesty, integrity, a willingness to help others and the ability to work hard at whatever I do. I feel these characteristics have shaped my adult life and enabled me to succeed in life.

However, the best gift she has given me was a religious basis by starting me in Sunday School at a very early age. That basis led me to accept Christ as my savior at 16 years old. Although I drifted apart from GOD for a few short years after HS graduation I returned at 25 and have been there ever since. Today, I teach Sunday School classes for high school students. I owe my mother for starting this process at an early age and have passed this same start on to my own children. What a legacy to continue!

Anyway, as I close, I want to thank all of you for your care and support all these years. She truly had great friends to share her life with. It made her last years very special indeed!

Kevin
