Those that are willing to jettison solidly conservative senators, simply because they might be wrong on one issue, are not qualified to comment on any other issue on this board as far as I'm concerned.
Single issue ???? Seems to me, every time ANY of our *so-called* lawmakers speak of illegal immigration they ADD more issues to the problem.
But then, maybe you agree with our *Senators* that illegal employers should ALSO receive amnesty for their years of TAX EVASIONS (both withholding & personal income.)
Call or email them and give them a piece of your mind. They have gone insane.

No I don't agree and don't engage in pathetic rhetorical tools. However, so many on these boards are going ballistic about every detail of the bill that comes out of the Senate. This bill is going to conference. The egregious parts are going to be hammered out by House-Senate conferees. Sensenbrenner and Sessions will be on the conference.

Time to start checking Standard Brands "dealer's" employment practices. All the paint store guys around here hire illegals, as do the painting contractors, so why not those who deal Standard Brands products (The Lugar family are supposed to be heavily invested in this company).

I'm Catholic and I agree with you 100%. Some in the Church (by no means all) are very misguided in encouraging this hugely immoral situation which in the long run isn't helping anyone except the US and Mexican elites. It hurts the lower and middle classes here in the US by depressing wages. In Mexico it allows the ethnic "Spanish" elites to own virtually everything while the "Indian" poor have nothing.
However, I do think there's another factor involved with Brownback, and it's spelled Big Meat Processing. I bet if we check his donor list we'll find some prominent packing plants which were closed on May 1st, if you know what I mean.
Gotta take issue with calling this one little issue. Illegal immigration negatively affects education, healthcare, crime, the economy, social services, insurance rates, national security, etc. Getting it wrong on this "one little issue" means getting it wrong on many, many issues.
IMO, those lawmakers who don't (or won't) understand that, regardless of previous conduct, deserve whatever wrath their constituents see fit to bring down upon them come election day.
This Social Security benefit for 12 to 20 million illegals is absolute insanity. We were warned for months that Social Security (plus Medicare and Medicaid) are on the edge of bankruptcy - and now this!
I hope you do look into it and then post what you find. What in the world would make usually Conservative Senators vote for such a terrible bill. I don't see how there's any way to justify a vote like that. It's just plain ANTI AMERICAN.
