I just had a lengthy discussion about this with a friend on the phone. I said unless you think that sex within marriage is a sin or that marriage itself is some kind of a "fallen state" then this movie and book really have no challenges to one's faith in Christ.

The movie and book also state that no one regarded Jesus as divine until Constantine declared Jesus so sometime after A.D. 300. It also states that nothing is original in Christianity, and that everything about it is stolen from other religions. It also stresses that "the Curch suppressed something called "the Sacred Feminine". You really did not pay attention, did you?

That'd be my take.

I have asked , a few times, why the idea of Jesus's being married - which was not only Jewish law for males, indeed no unmarried Jewish adult male could read from the Torah in temple - which was reiterated by dread78645.

And we know He did so read - Luke 4:16-20.

Had Jesus NOT followed the accepted laws of that time, it would be reasonable to suppose either He or one of the Gospel writers would have mentioned/explained why.

I have had answers of high indignance back that gave some tortured convolutions of why He was not married to MM, but that had Jesus married, that would have made him lecherous (!), an adulterer, a cheat - etc etc. I wont repeat what some have called me... ;o)
