I saw the movie last night and didn't percieve it as a slander on Christ at all. It does definitely paint the Catholic Church in a bad light, however.

I just had a lengthy discussion about this with a friend on the phone. I said unless you think that sex within marriage is a sin or that marriage itself is some kind of a "fallen state" then this movie and book really have no challenges to one's faith in Christ.
