Just don't like the catholic church telling this country what to think about anything. They can't keep their own home in order.
he fabricated his connection to the blood line and the priory - but the Priory existed long before Plantard - He also 'admitted' that even tho' he made up documents connecting him to the bloodline, the Priory itself had existed: that's history. and that the Priory of Sion had in fact been founded in 1681 at Rennes-le-Château by the grandfather of Marie de Negri d'Ables. This revised version (Plantard's) of the Priory of Sion had been influenced by the opening of the "Sauniere Museum" in Rennes-le-Chateau in May 1989.
Plantard didn't 'invent' the Priory "Prieure" of Sion - just tried to write himself into it's history
I'm not a Catholic (currently a member of a Presbyterian church but have a been a Methodist, Baptist, Lutheran and Assembly of God member) I'm a Christian and believe Christians should not back Hollywood in their effort to discredit Christ.
The Dems hate Bush so are against the war on terror no matter the cost. You dislike the Catholic church so you will back heresy. Where's the difference? *shrugging*
Hey, at least that has Bruce Willis -- a big improvement over Tom Hanks (even if it is only his voice).
My. my. Getting a little personal, aren't we...
Actually, I have no ax to grind with the Catholic Church - was just reminding folk of the history of the church and it's followers.
My ancestors, on the other hand, were among those hunted for burning, because they owned a Bible and believed God gave man a right to follow the Jesus they read about in the Bible. They didn't seek to slaughter Catholics, they simply fought to be free to worship as they believed without fear of being crispy crittered for it.
Bingo
"I predict DVD sales will be minimal."
And that's what they predicted about King Kong too... and it turned out to be the biggest selling one day on DVD ever.
The Rotten Tomato has it running at 18% - a true dog!
Reviews Counted: 152
Fresh: 28 Rotten: 124
Average Rating: 4.7/10
Yeah, but KING KONG has an 84% positive rating at Rotten Tomatoes. DA VINCI CODE has a miserable 18%.
Doesn't matter a bit. Every heard King Kong was awful and it still sold like hotcakes on DVD. This will be no different.
The book also slanders Judaism. claiming that "Early Jews believed that the Holy of Holies in Solomon's Temple housed not only God but also His powerful female equal, Shekinah. Men seeking spiritual wholeness came to the Temple to visit priestesses -- or hierodules -- with whom they made love and experienced the divine through physical union."
He seems to want to slander the entire Judeo-Christian tradition, IMO.

How can everyone have heard that KING KONG was awful when 84% of critics gave it thumbs' up?
Plantard founded the Priory in 1956 with Andre Bonhomme, both of them being signatories to the 7 May 1956 Priory of Sion Statutes and Registration Documents that had to be deposited at the Sub-Prefecture of Saint-Julien-en-Genevois to conform with the 1901 French Law of Associations (all French associations, groups and clubs must register with the authorities).
Plantard later rejected these claims during the late 1980s when he revised the mythological pedigree of the Priory of Sion, claiming it had nothing to do with the Knights Templar, that the "Dossiers Secrets" was written under the influence of LSD, and that the Priory of Sion had in fact been founded in 1681 at Rennes-le-Château by the grandfather of Marie de Negri d'Ables. This revised version of the Priory of Sion had been influenced by the opening of the "Sauniere Museum" in Rennes-le-Chateau in May 1989.
In September, 1993, Plantard claimed that Roger-Patrice Pelat had once been grandmaster of the Priory of Sion. Pelat was a friend of the then-President of France François Mitterrand and center of a scandal involving French Prime Minister Pierre Bérégovoy. A French court ordered a search of Plantard's home, turning up many documents, including some proclaiming Plantard the true king of France. Under oath, Plantard admitted that he had fabricated everything, including Pelat's involvement with the Priory of Sion.[1] Plantard lived in obscurity until his death on 3 February 2000 in Paris.
Interests 1956:
Having moved from Paris to the town of Annemasse in the southern Haute Savoie region of France Plantard formed, with André Bonhomme a small association called the Prieuré de Sion on 7 May 1956 (its Registration Papers existing at the Sub-Prefecture of Saint Julien-en-Genevois, and it was named after a small hill outside Annemasse named Mont Sion) devoted to the Defence and Liberty of Low-Cost Housing and acting as a support group for the opposition candidate at the local Council elections the Prieuré de Sion actively criticised and attacked the Annemasse property developers in its journal, Circuit; its headquarters were based at Plantards home in the street of Sous-Cassan. A Report dated 4 May 1954 on Pierre Plantard reveals that he had moved to Annemasse by 1951 and was "married and had a daughter aged about three". The Prieuré de Sion terminated sometime after October 1956, following Plantards conviction for détournement de mineurs (reportedly serving a 12 month prison sentence between 1956-1957).
Interests: 1960-1985:
Revived the Prieuré de Sion and gave it a fictitious pedigree (created by Godfrey de Bouillon during the Crusades); Plantard first developed an interest in the story of Gisors as given by Roger Lhomoy, before progressing into the story of Rennes-le-Château as initially given by Noel Corbu, with whom he met and was greatly impressed by. By 1964 Plantard created the novel claim about himself that he was directly descended from the Merovingian king Dagobert II and the central purpose of being of this version of the Prieuré de Sion was this very claim (Plantard was really descended from a 16th century peasant who picked walnuts). Plantard also became acquainted with Philippe de Chérisey and Gérard de Sède during this period of time the latter being an author who successfully managed to transform Plantards creations/allegations into published books Plantard had previously failed to get any of his own manuscripts published, which included one on Rennes-le-Château this latter manuscript became the book LOr de Rennes that was re-written by Gérard de Sède and published in 1967. With the help of Philippe de Chérisey, Plantard began creating false stories about the priest Bérenger Saunière at Rennes-le-Château and in particular creating false pieces of evidence like "parchments", "gravestones", and "genealogies" (See Priory of Sion Fakes) the "parchments" in particular were created by Philippe de Chérisey and the book contract to LOr de Rennes reveals he was entitled to a share of the books profits for producing the "parchments". A split between the three occurred in 1967 when Gérard de Sède refused to split the book royalties and Plantard and de Chérisey declared the "parchments" to be forgeries (the books main attraction and major selling point). The period between 1967-1985 represented one of producing more and more false allegations and more and more forgeries including a List of Grand Masters that was plainly inspired by the AMORC list of famous people that included the names of Leonardo da Vinci, Robert Fludd, Botticelli, Valentin Andreae, etc. Plantards activities from this point on were plainly laughable but he managed to get away with it simply because people chose to believe his stories until a conflict with the author and researcher Jean-Luc Chaumeil (who discovered details about Plantards past and began publishing them) forced Plantard into quitting by "resigning" from the Prieuré de Sion on 10 July 1984 although the last Priory Document representing this version of the Prieuré de Sion was deposited in the Bibliothèque Nationale on 1 October 1985. A split also developed between Pierre Plantard and Philippe de Chérisey when the latter started collaborating with Paul Rouelle (involving a character named the Marquis de B. who actually never existed).
Oh come on... everyone heard it was too long and it was. But it still sold like hotcakes on DVD. Even ST Nemesis was able to eak out a little profit due to DVD sales.
Besides, who goes to rotten tomatoes before they decide to either see a movie in the theater or purchase it on DVD?
"I am certain that if you had been alive during the time the Lord struck Sodom, you would have felt the same about the Sodomites. After all they were people.
I am sure you would have felt terrible for the First born of Egypt.

THE DA VINCI CODE will do very well because it has a cult following of "true believers" (like a Michael Moore film), but word of mouth will ultimately hold its totals down. The only thing that kept it from being the most critically reviled film this week was the presence of SEE NO EVIL, a ludicrous slasher film with wrestling star Kane as the monster.
And that's what they said about SW TPM too and it made 417 mil in the US alone.
