Well obviously not, but claiming this movie is part of a massive Hollywood plot to undermine Christianity makes as much sense as saying the book was the same by the publishing industry as a whole.

My only statement was that I wasn't going to support this type of movie by Hollywierd. You may, it's your money. I just choose not to.

I found the book to be a pretty hard slog.

Me too. And I didn't understand all the fuss. One chapter after another of a cliffhanger with the hero saying..."If I can solve this puzzle, I'll unwrap the biggest mystery of all time. Solve, solve solve. DANG, it's another puzzle!"

I don't think there's a massive Hollywood plot to undermine Christianity, but there's no doubt in my mind that Christianity isn't particularly popular in Hollywood. When a script comes along such as THE DA VINCI CODE or V FOR VENDETTA, there are likely a lot of Beavis & Butt-Head chuckles about it. "Huh-huh-huh, we can really sock it to those fundies if we produce this one!" "Uh, yeah, huh-huh-huh-huh!"

They'd think twice before smearing Buddhism or Hinduism in this manner, and they'd think fifteen times over before going after Islam.

Both of those scripts were derived from hihgly known valuable 'properties' that became popular without Hollywood's help.

Brown is just the most recent in a long line of "authours" spouting heresy as fact with no actual facts. I remember Dragnet. It was much more honest in it's presentation.

Dragnet was taken from actual police files. So the story lines were truthful. "Only the names have been changes to protect the innocent."

the theories have been thoroughly discredited, even to the point where people involved have admitted it was a hoax

Pierre Plantard, the fabricator of the Priory of Sion nonsense, admitted under oath "that he had fabricated everything".

That's also true for THE SUM OF ALL FEARS, but Hollywood changed the terrorists from Muslims to white supremacists for the movie version.

Remember THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST? Mel Gibson had to go outside the usual Hollywood channels to produce that film, which golorified Christianity and Christ's sacrifice. No studio would touch it, even though it obviously had the potential to be a blockbuster. And when it became a blockbuster, Hollywood didn't jump on the bandwagon as they normally do. When THE EXORCIST came out of nowhere to be a blockbuster, Hollywood went crazy for the next few years churning out devil horror movies. When ANIMAL HOUSE became a smash, Hollywood went overboard trying to copy it with dozens of frat house comedies. Whenever any movie becomes a surprise blockbuster, Hollywood copies it, often to the point of overkill. Witness the zillion slasher films after low budget HALLOWEEN became a smash. Yet, THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST hasn't led Hollywood to show Christianity in a more reverent manner. Instead, they still grab at any anti-Christian property that seems likely to make a buck, with no thoughts about the feelings or faith of those insulted.

DRAGNET was totally honest in its presentation. THE DA VINCI CODE isn't. You are correct.

It is fiction guys. I'm going to go see it only because I want to make a point to the Catholic church. I have an independent brain, and their guidelines, are just that guidelines. They have a very small impact today on how people live their lives.

The Catholic church is responsible for the invasion of this country by illegal aliens, and I resent that very much. They try to set governmental policies to protect their own survival, yet they pay NO TAXES to this government they try to run.

Exactly, it's just fiction. Even Hollywood's apparent hypocrisy is fiction.

Considering your screen name, your stand on this heretical garbage is pretty funny.

It is fiction guys.

Ahhhhhhh but it's being pushed as "historical" fiction.

The kind of people who would've been at the stakes with torches are still with us. Always will be. We are fortunate to live in a country where marshmallowing humans on the stake is outlawed.

Yes, we are. Considering your hatred of the Catholic Church and your absolute belief in lies and paranoid fantasies about it, bigots like you would be first line to torch a few papists.

"I found the book to be a pretty hard slog."

Dialog is tough to write. Brown's was impossible to read without snickering. I pitched the lousy thing after a couple of chapters.
