LOS ANGELES, California (AP) -- "The Da Vinci Code" banked an estimated $29 million at the box office on its first day in theaters, an industry official said Saturday, positioning the film to turn in the strongest opening weekend for any movie this year.

I am certain that if you had been alive during the time the Lord struck Sodom, you would have felt the same about the Sodomites. After all they were people.
I am sure you would have felt terrible for the First born of Egypt.
I wont be dissappointed because we both know it wont happen. Things like that only happened in the old testament.
####guess the campaign, including the biased, orchestrated, reviews didn't work...####
Wanna try to explain that one?
That would depend on
A. How successful the book is and
B. My cut of the royalties. ;-)
"I'm not worried one wit about their souls. They deserve to rot in hell."
Ahhh, THERE'S the spirit of Jesus' teachings!
I already responded to this stupid post once. People have objected to those other books, and the theories have been thoroughly discredited, even to the point where people involved have admitted it was a hoax. But you can keep your multi-decade search reading such nonsense in search of your 'truth'.
It must be a terrible burden to be "Always Right"
anyway, thanks for referring to me as an "intelligent person" - altho' I suspicion you didn't mean it that way :o)
Save me the time of reading the thread. Who did they say was related to Christ in the present day?
Not only catholics all of Christianity. It's a direct attack on Christianity itself. As St. Paul said: in 1 Corinthians 15:14-19 14
And if Christ has not been raised, our preaching is useless and so is your faith. 15More than that, we are then found to be false witnesses about God, for we have testified about God that he raised Christ from the dead. But he did not raise him if in fact the dead are not raised. 16For if the dead are not raised, then Christ has not been raised either. 17And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins. 18Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ are lost. 19If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are to be pitied more than all men.
I read the book and it was entertaining. It seemed based on facts but I'm Jewish and not so knowledgeable. Since then this book has been exposed by Freepers as wildly inaccurate. I have zero interest in seeing this farce. Why waste time and money and I don't like Tom Hanks anyways
Please. Its a best-selling blockbuster, and Hollywood sees a chance to make a buck. Capitalism, after all.
LOL
Dear "Always Right"
I'm sure Mormons will appreciate your "kind' judgment. As I mentioned before, it must be a terrible burden to be "Always Right"
;o)
Putting money in Hollywierds pocket really makes a lot of sense to me. They will then be encouraged to make more anti-Christian movies.Smart move........
They were encouraged by one of the best selling novels of all time....by the way are you also boycotting the publishing industry that put out the book?
LOL - I keep seeing your 'blue apple" - 'wonder how many know about the 'blue apples" connection
JC!
Where so many are seeing adversity, Christians everywhere should be seeing opportunity. This can be a chance to witness to those who might not be reached otherwise.
I grew up watching DRAGNET. Each episode was performed by actors who had learned a script, but there was an announcement that the stories we had witnessed were true, though names were changed to protect the innocent. This made DRAGNET different than an actual crime documentary, which would use real names, real locales, real interviews with real witnesses. Each episode was a fictionalized account of a real event from the LAPD crime files. The show's writers would take real police reports of actual crimes, change the names of the participants, spruce the story up for entertainment purposes, and then present it as a TV show.
So was DRAGNET a documentary, or was it fiction? Well, it was a fictional treatment of real life events. Sgt. Joe Friday was a made up character, investigating crimes of other made up characters, but which were based on actual crimes that did occur.
The problem with THE DA VINCI CODE is that Dan Brown wants us to think it's DRAGNET, and it isn't. DRAGNET was based on real crimes. THE DA VINCI CODE is based on long-discredited lies and conspiracy theories which Brown wants us to believe are true. He wants us to believe he uncovered a lot of hidden truths about Christianity in general and the Catholic Church in particular through painstaking historical research, and that his book & film are fictionalized accounts of those truths. Tom Hanks' character may be fictional, but like Sgt. Joe Friday he's investigating real crimes.
Only he isn't. And that's why Dan Brown deserves our scorn for being a liar and a huckster. He's also a colossal coward, because he wouldn't dare pull something like this with Islam as the target.
Yep, didn't buy the book.
