Quintus Sollonius was a veteran of campaigns against the Dacians in what is now Romania ...part of a detachment of legionary soldiers a very senior soldier - probably a non-commissioned officer with at least 20 years' experience.

I bet this tough old soldier never got to return home after a few flesh wounds and a few Puniceus Pectus pectoris

Is the mystery/secret simply whether there were Roman legions involved in the building of the wall, as opposed to, say, locals pressed into service?
