Right. The same administration that appointed John Bolton as UN ambassador despite the the wishes of the "global community" and went to war in Iraq, also against the global community's wishes, is now supposed to be some sort of suck up to it?
Read her book What I saw at the Revolution. Peggy Noonan admits in it she is an FDR liberal and always will be. She is also a very emotional woman who writes her columns based on whims--- thats why opinion journal readers learned about her infatuation with Tom Cruise when she ran into him in the gym. Shes a very talented writer, but she is a very poor analyst. Her insights typically consist of this sort of emotion based, factless reporting:
History has been too dramatic the past 3 1/2 years. It has been too exciting. Economic recession, 9/11, war, Afghanistan, Iraq, fighting with Europe. fighting with the U.N., boys going off to fight, Pat Tillman, beheadings. It has been so exciting. And my general sense of Americans is that we like things to be boring.
In short, aside from her superior literary talent, shes a more conservative version of Maureen Dowd.
I'm on the other side of this argument, but I do agree with you on Peggy Noonan. The book you cite takes off spectacularly, and then dies because she falls in love with some shlub, and doesn't have the deire to finish the thing because of the ups and downs of her infatuation. She is highly emotional, as you say.
