Social Security for illegals OK'd
Senate blocks effort to limit benefits for those who become legal residents

The U.S. Senate today rejected an effort to limit Social Security benefits for illegal aliens who become permanent residents under an immigration reform bill being debated.
As it stands, the bill the Senate is considering would give millions of illegals a path to U.S. citizenship if they pay fines, back taxes and meet other requirements.
The Social Security proposal, offered by Sen. John Ensign, R-Nev., would have prevented illegals who become legal from collecting the benefit on wages they earned while working unlawfully.
"Social Security was not intended for people who entered our country illegally," Ensign is quoted as saying.
Countered Sen. Edward Kennedy, D-Mass.: "Their money sits in the Social Security Administration waiting to be matched with an eligible beneficiary, and once those workers establish the eligibility, how in all fairness can we deny them the credit for their past contributions?"
Reuters reported that later today senators will consider an amendment to the bill by Sen. James Inhofe, R-Okla., to make English the national language.
As WorldNetDaily reported, yesterday the Senate approved an amendment to the immigration reform bill that would direct the building of a triple-layer fence along 370 miles of the southern border with Mexico.
The Bush administration today indicated the president supported the fence proposal.
"[Bush] doesn't think you fence off the entire border but there are places ... where fences are appropriate, and then, you build fences there," spokesman Tony Snow said.
If you didn't file those W-4s on YOUR tax return, the IRS can't come after you. They'd have to investigate the employers who filed the W-4s. Then they'd find out who the W-4s really belonged to. This whole thing is going to cost the IRS millions to straighten out. Maybe we won't have to get rid of the IRS after all. Maybe this illegal immigrant cluster'f' mess will cause the IRS to self-destruct all on its' own.
That is why there will be the death of the SS system.
People never having paid anything in are already here getting benefits.
Just because you're paranoid, it doesn't mean they aren't out to get you. ;)
Senator Swimmer, how in all fairness can you put illegal invaders ahead of American citizens?
..never give up
FICA taxes are withheld no matter how many dependents they list on their W4.
It was overpayment of FICA taxes, not income taxes, that was the point of my scheme.
The scheme wouldn't work because somebody that was already making enough money to exceed the $94K cap on SS taxes would be in a higher income tax bracket than an illegal alien. If the IRS added their income to your own, they would deem you had underpaid your income taxes at the same time as you overpaid your FICA taxes. The refunded FICA tax overpayment would be less than the underpaid income taxes.
Yes....and just knowing that...only tends to make me MORE paranoid! Hahaha!
"Just because you're paranoid, it doesn't mean they aren't out to get you. ;)"
It's sad- he's so great on social issues, but clueless in this area. I couldn't support him.
This is morally warped.
These people worked for and earned their money just like any legal citizen has.
The idea that we should declare EVERY SINGLE act in this country illegal because a person sneaked across the border is nothing more than spite.
I find this kind of vengengeful position perhaps more reprehensible than the simple act of sneaking across any border could ever be.

this entire scam is bizarre---how will it be a proven FACT that they have paid into it ? proven the same way their 5 years of residency is ?
they worked and earned their money just like any legal citizen has ? ya know, i wish my entire family could do exactly like them--work tax free and collect welfare..we'd be rich.
