February 15, 1998 in Los Angeles, USA - "During a game between the US and Mexico February 15, the US soccer team was not only booed and jeered throughout the entire game by Mexican fans, but were continually pelted with water, beer and in some cases solid objects like fruit from the over 60,000 fans in attendance.
One player was hit during with a water balloon during a corner kick attempt. As the team left the field at the end of both halves, beer and other debris rained down on them as they tried to run through the tunnel to their locker room. Mexico's fans in the end got the best of Uncle Sam as the Mexican national team defeated the US, 1-0.
This type of behavior is nothing new in Mexico, England, most of Europe, or any other Latin American countries. Home nations make it a matter of habit to act like idiots to visiting teams, and this incident was no different; except that it happened in Los Angeles, California!
Now, the rivalry between these two national teams has become pretty heated as the US has become a somewhat meager soccer power of sorts, but what happened in this case is completely inexcusable because it happened on America's own soil."
February 5, 2004 in Zapopan, Mexico "Last Thursday, when the U.S. played Canada in a qualifying round in Zapopan before 1,500 Mexicans, the crowd hooted "The Star-Spangled Banner," it booed U.S. goals. And it chanted "Osama! Osama! Osama" as the American players left the field with a 2-0 victory."
February 10, 2004 in Guadalajara, Mexico "In the 26th minute, the throng began chanting 'Osama! Osama!' at the Americans, but they appeared inured to such taunting and eager for a game of beautiful desperation in an attempt to reach the Olympics."
March 27, 2005 in Mexico City, Mexico "There was some booing and whistling during 'The Star-Spangled Banner' but the Americans expected worse. After the game, about 100 people gathered for a peaceful celebration near Mexico City's Angel of Independence monument. A few first tried to burn, then trampled a small American flag while chanting 'Osama! Osama!'"
Hey, that gives me an idea. We should try to get the Communists elected to run Mexico, and then they'll have to build a wall to keep all their people from getting out :-)
You're the whiner here.
They certainly are expressing support for Al Qaeda with the chant. Whether they provide any more material support, I have no idea. Obviously, if one possesses such a hatred of the US as to be able to praise a terrorist, then it certainly might be possible that some could go further.
My tax dollars support you and every other person in Israel. Willingly on my part. But what a bunch of ingrates some of you are.
Don't be ridiculous. They were taunting US soccer fans. Al Qaeda is only slightly less popular in Mexico than it is in your typical New York City firehouse. Tasteless? Yes. Terrorists? No.
If we hadn't taken that land in the Treaty of Guadalupe, then civilized and improved it by developing agriculture and industry, the place wouldn't have been any better than the rest of Mexico and they still would have had to come north to make a decent living.
"BTW, Mexican-Americans, many of them described here as "anchor babies," are serving in the US military in greater numbers than their proportion of the population at large."
Not according to the NY Times:
Army Effort to Enlist Hispanics Draws Recruits, and Criticism - New York Times
"Hispanics have long been underrepresented in the Army and in the military as a whole. While Latinos make up 10.8 percent of the Army's active-duty force, a better rate than the Air Force or Navy, they account for 14 percent of the population as a whole."

No less stupid than your assertions, which is why I wrote it in the first place.
Bad policy can destroy and hurt a country, and her economy, just like having rockets blow up.
I guess the thing that's galling is your lack of understanding and knowledge, being replaced by emotional feelings and a disregard to reality. I hope this is a result of your being a student or otherwise too young to know more about it all.
You didn't seem all that willing a minute ago.
But what a bunch of ingrates some of you are.
Really? How am I an ingrate?
Actually, it happens all the time, at many international games. Also, next time you're in Amsterdam, go see Ajax play.
So Mexicans are as bad as Hamas? How am I supposed to interpret this statement?
I hope this is a result of your being a student or otherwise too young to know more about it all.
Don't patronize me.
I apologize for my behavior, but I too have come across FReepers who are less interested in debate than they are proving that they are right.
Is that some sort of debating tactic, saying "a yes or no will do"?
Actually , yes, it was. And you have impressed me with your intelligent response, instead of resorting to personal attacks.
I hope you forgive my tactics.
You lecture us on our border issues while we support you through our taxes. Israel would never survive without US aid. Military, economic, you name it.
We have a right to defend our borders. Maybe you should let every Jordanian, Gaza Palestinian and Lebanese (Syrian) waltz across your border. After all, they're just people, right? Just there to work, right?
Does anyone have the video shown on the news where Ben Laden masks and T-shirts were being sold by vendors on the streets of Mexico City, with thousands of people celebrating? That was a hot one that has become even more rare to see than the attack on the twin towers. The news media doesn't like to inflame our passions.
I haven't lectured you on border issues. Are you confusing me with someone else?
We have a right to defend our borders.
Who says you don't?
Grow up.
It's a sad state of affairs when a bunch of Americans care more about Israel than some of her own citizens.
Huh?
