Even a high school drum major knows it's a damn sight harder to lead a parade than to follow and bitch about the marching.

I keep going back to "The Conservative Rout" by Russell Kirk (Later renamed "Conservative Mind."

Kirk claims that conservatism will always lose because progressivism -is- activism and the very nature of a true conservative will tend to eat his own, and/or be steam-rolled by the activist/progressivists.

It's a dull historical read, but really nails the mechanics of the political times we're living.

Meanwhile, we're getting pilloried on this thread by the likes of the WoW folks who claim that -WE'RE- the mindless fools!
