UPDATE @ 15:10 - S.Amdt.3979 - Sessions: To construct barriers on significant lengths of the border, was PASSED on a 83 - 16 vote.
Vote on Vitter is underway. There is some debate about when the Inhofe amendment will be taken up, as the DEMs have suggested they will offer a parallel alternative amendment.
With respect to the Vitter amendment, Chafee, Craig, Frist, Graham, Lugar, Martinez, McCain, Murkowski, Smith, Specter, Voinovich in the NAY column, I think the Vitter amendment is going to be REJECTED.
S.Amdt.3963 - Vitter: To remove provisions giving legal status to certain workers, was REJECTED on a 33 - 66 vote.
True, city's would be subject to the same penalties. This is something that everyone must be involved in wether they like it or not.
Thanks for saying that.
So many immigration experts. What's a Mod to do? ;)
Agreed. They bear reapeating and particularly on this thread.
Thanks.
Now, next question - should Bush be called to task for wanting a guest worker program before the borders are anywhere close to secure (I am not demanding an airtight border, but one where an illegal has a better than 50-50 chance of getting caught).
>>We even keep rapsheets on each other. Three strikes, and you're back to shuffling sidebars on the graveyard shift.<<
I thought the conspiracy theories of the existence of mulitple sidebar moderators had been debunked? :)
Having "shifts" would imply y'all are in some way subject to human limitations...
If your first paragraph is not trollish it is simply LIES.
I'll get to work on that right away...oh wait, that's right, Bill Richardson is my governor. nvm.
Amazingly enough Canada is home to the two largest Islamic fundamentalist enclaves outside the Muslim world and we're putting all out efforts into the southern border?
If folks think the southern border is easy to cross...
No one can help it if their state is overrun East Coast and Midwest liberals looking warm climate year round. The assertion that Californian's don't care about this issue, and are all a bunch of looney liberals, is patently absurd and like most FR California bashing posts just plain ignorant.
If I though you were even remotely intelligent, that might bother me.
"I would like a wall. But, I am not giving up on it yet. I just know that under the Republicans it MAY get built. Under the dems, it will NEVER get built."
Oh, it'll get built by the Republicans alright.
The only question, really, is whether or not they realize they HAVE to do it before or after they've lost Congress in 2006.
I don't know. It was just an observation.
If you don't like Howlin's approach I will call down nopardons on you. We will send someone around later to sweep up the ashes.
You should not advocate violence! It is a bannable offense!
"State flags? I'm not all that young, and not very technically savvy with the Internet and really have no idea what you are talking about. Are we supposed to put state flags somewhere? Where? I don't know what flag I would put up anyway. I happen to live in Connecticut, for the time being."
Sign up to the FR board for the state of Connecticut, Vicomte13. I'm on a Mac myself, but the appearance and function of this site will be the same, one way or the other. I'll walk you through it if you want.
I'm with you 100%.
