Huckabee is one of those Republicans who "grew" in office, as the liberals used to say. In his case though, he did lose a lot of weight but "grew" in the liberal intangibles.

I actually like Huckabee and think he is a good man. I've heard some really good things about him from someone who has met him andknows him personally.

However, that doesn't mean I've gotten enough info on his politics to give an opinion on if he would be a good presidential candidate or not.

"It's not amnesty to make people pay for breaking the law,"

It IS scamnesty when they pay a fine and jump to the head of the line. One Arkansas weasel gov as Prez is more than enough.

"I do believe some of it is driven by racism or nativism," he said of the opposition within his party to Mr. Bush's view that illegal aliens should not be deported...

Any minute now, Laura Bush will say, "It's possible. Yes, I think it's possible."

"It's not amnesty to make people pay for breaking the law," Mr. Huckabee said.

Huckabee doesn't seem to be the sharpest knife in the drawer. He sounds more like Senator Frist. Wishy-washy politico-speak, a.k.a., gobbledygook.

Mr. Huckabee? You mean Governor Huckabee of Arkansas?

Nativists?

That seems to have become the Team Bush hot-word for negative connotations.

Huckabee just kissed off his chances to get the GOP nomination for President!

The only person that I see as a viable GOP candidate is George Allen!

This immigration thingy is making it easier and easier cutting through the confusion of which politician is any good.

So long, Huck!

"I do believe some of it is driven by racism or nativism," he said of the opposition within his party to Mr. Bush's view that illegal aliens should not be deported but rather fined and eventually allowed U.S. citizenship.

What? Oh,well. Sorry, Mr. Huckabee, but thank you for playing. Meanwhile, among our other qualified candidates for President: How say you all, Gov.'s Romney, and Allen ?

I could get behind either one of these guys (or both) because I know the Democratic alternative is going to be awful. Be prepared to be flamed about Romney because a lot of folk on this site really despise the guy.

He is going to undercut Allen in Iowa and allow Romney to be the "anti McCain" choice going forward.
