MP told she is 'not a citizen'

The Dutch MP who lied to gain asylum fought back tears yesterday as she confirmed she was resigning her seat after being told her citizenship may be withdrawn.
Somalian-born Ayaan Hirsi Ali also said she was leaving for America. She said her job was now "impossible" after a "shocking" letter from Rita Verdonk, the immigration minister, saying Miss Hirsi Ali could no longer consider herself Dutch because of the lies she told the immigration authorities in 1992.

Thank you for posting that information. So the Dutch are looking for a way to get her out of their country. They are desperately trying to avoid any violence, even if it means sacrificing a very brave woman.

I have never heard of this woman. Dont lump me in with the immigration thread hijackers, please. She lied, gained a government position, was caught and is now coming here. What was anyone supposed to think? Lying is still lying. Buthey, if you are Ok with it, that makes it all right, I guess..

Interesting that she has long ago admitted to the lies - made back when she was 22 - but just now at this moment some Dutch bureaucrat - who also just happens to be running for the party leadership - has decided it's time to go after her. This article seems to raise more questions than it answers.

It was bad she lied, but she also is one of the few people that stands up to the radical and violent aspects of Islam, and worked with the van Gogh murdered a couple years ago on that documentary. If anything, this is just another example of the double standard rampant within many countries' immigration departments.

I didn't know that happened in Kenya, like I didn't know that Kenya was considered a Muslim country.
Actually according to goggle Kenya is 38% protestant, 28% roman catholic and 6% Muslim. I do think someone is floating some BS.

I do find it a bit sad that the immigration issue has become such an idee fixe in the eyes of some FReepers that they would not offer sanctuary to a woman run out of Europe by the death threats of Islamists and the cowardice of the Dutch. Time, I suggest, for a few deep breaths and a little perspective. Just IMHO.

I don't know if that's what she was facing, but if I was in some desperate situation, I'd lie. Such moral superiority as if people have never told a lie.
