This morning President and Mrs. Bush greeted Australian Prime Minister John Howard and his wife, Janette to the White House in an official South Lawn Arrival Ceremony as part of a state visit, followed by a meeting of the two leaders in the Oval Office, and a joint statement to the press in the East Room. There will be an official State Dinner at the White House this evening.
This afternoon President Bush congratulated the WNBA 2005 National Champion, Sacramento Monarchs at a ceremony in the East Garden of the White House, where he accepted a shirt and championship ring.
There has never been a greater need for Sanity on Free Republic so WELCOME to the Daily Dose! Lots of great pictures today............Enjoy!
WHAT A CUTE LITTLE GUY!!!
I caught the last few questions on a Cspan replay. He was great, and the press seem to be flattered that one of them (ahem) is at the podium. Also, they seem to be either on a honeymoon period with Tony, or somewhat in awe of him. Time will tell which it is.
Anyway, he had dignity, humor, and aplomb. He wasn't afraid to shut them down, politely but firmly, when they were asking stoopid questions.
Even the most stanch democrat would tell you that no matter how much they agree with John Kerry, that the guy is a stone asshole. That's worth 50K votes in Ohio all by itself.
Sean must not be old enough to remember Reagan, otherwise he would be calling himself a GWB Conservative, because this President is more of a Conservative than Reagan was. And don't get me wrong, I love Ronald Reagan and consider him one of the greatest leaders of all time, but the argument (or myth) that Ronald Reagan was a Limited Government Conservative is not based on facts. RR was a LEADER and PROMOTER of the Conservative movement, but he governed at a time when Conservatism was not accepted as the norm, so he governed from the middle while promoting the right and the Conservative movement.
He managed to pull this off like nobody in history, and while he did so, he made all of us love our country again as well as making the word "Liberal" a dirty word :-)
"I dunno what he was singin' but I was tappin' my foot."
That "Reagan Conservative" stuff from Sean gives me pause also. When I first listened to him, before he went national, he would say he was a libertarian. That went to Republican, then Conservative, and now it's Reagan Conservative.
One thing I don't understand though, is why people go to the live Sean thread here on FR and bash him. I don't know why they can't just leave it alone, there are off buttons on radios.
Thanks STARWISE, I love John Howard! I LOVE PRESIDENT BUSH!
Me 2 .. what a standup and outstanding man. God bless him for standing by our side through the WOT.
I paid attention to what George W. Bush was promising me in 1999 and 2000 and although I didn't think he was as Conservative as I would like, I decided he was who I would vote for in the Primaries and support him against Al Gore.
George W. Bush has not broken a single promise he made to me or this country, I voted for him despite my differences and I respect him for not abandoning his promises, despite the pressures from his so called "Base". His leadership after 9/11 is something I will never forget and always be grateful for.
The burden this man has had to bare since he was elected can only be compared to Abraham Lincoln and much like Lincoln, GWB is not somebody who looks at popular polls to figure out where he wants to lead the country. His steadfast principles will ensure his place in history as one of the greatest and I will probably not live long enough to see the history books give him the credit he deserves, but I have no doubt that his place in history is assured
Recording it now :-)
Long story and either I would be given a tinfoil hat or kudos for what I do/did...
I got the video done in time for Mother's Day, but have baby detail all week and will probably not get the label on it or get to the post office until next week.
"And I LOVE that only 18% didn't like his speech last night! EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM was on FR last night!!"
Hi Ohio!
Yes, and I ran in to a few of them - -but you'll be proud to know I held my own (in a nice way). Just lay out the facts and they want to take their ball and go home ;-)
Thanks for the great pictures this evening! I kept switching to C-Spin thinking they'd have it on, but, of course, they didn't (I'm sure they would have if it had been Bubba). The good news is that I got to see most of Tony's 1st Presser. He did GREAT - - just like I thought he would. Thanks again for the super thread over the weekend, too!
Best,
SC
Good post MJY1288 !
Thanks Mo1,
He is just the most wonderful thing...and loves the camera.
He loves it so much that when we took a few pictures of his eyes rolling while drinking his bottle (a formulaholic that gets bottle intoxicated) he woke up and decided that he wanted to ham it up by trying to hold the bottle himself and pose, but grandpa had put theh camera down and Noah couldn't hold the bottle and after a few attempts (even with his feet...with grandma's help) and no camera ... he got a bit upset and switched to the pacifier.
