Not Her Strong Suit [Katherine Harris]
The St. Petersburg Times ^ | 5/15/06 | Sharon Fink

Posted on 05/15/2006 7:24:51 PM PDT by zerelda

Last Tuesday, U.S. Rep. Katherine Harris attended a ceremony with the president of the United States at MacDill Air Force base in Tampa.

It was a critical moment in her campaign for the U.S. Senate, a race her own Republican Party leadership doesn't believe she can win. Her ensemble: a body-hugging, sea foam green suit with lace trim, slit skirt, green open-toed slingback shoes and a multistrand pearl choker.

On Wednesday, state House Speaker Alan Bense declined the GOP's pleas to take Harris on, making her the party's leading Senate candidate. But it seemed people were talking more about that green outfit than any other campaign issue.

They talked about its tightness. Its greenness. Its laciness. And those shoes. They talked about how it might have been a lovely getup for a wedding. Or a garden party. Or perhaps a nice private dinner out.

But she was appearing at an official function at a time one might have thought she was seeking to convey gravitas, not girlishness.

The concept behind the story is silly. I ask you, would such nonsense be published if she were a man, or a Lib? She looks fine, wee little catty ones. Now may we discuss the issues in her senatorial campaign, please?

To all of you posting here on FReeper, and who claim that you are true Conservative and that YOU would like see that we win this Senate seat on the RIGHT side by unseating the "ass-naut" bill nelson.

Here is how YOU can help do that, not by "backstabbing" Kathrine Harris, as so many out of State here have done recently by being "mouth-pieces" of the "drive-by" L.S.M.'s unfounded and personal attacks and echoed their vicious attacks against K.H's electability. To Hell with all the faked polls displayed here and in the liberal and the RAT's news-media. They are NO more worth or true than the ink they use to print their propaganda. They used the same tactics in 2000, 2002, 2004 against W and Jeb and W, proclaiming jSkerry the winner, yet he became a total failure and to a great deal of true Conservatives like John O'Neil and his fellow boat captains!

Here are some quotes from K.H.: "As Florida's Secretary of State during the hotly-contested 2000 Presidential Election recount, I was thrust into the national spotlight for five grueling weeks. I am proud of the fact that despite partisan criticism hurled against me, I honored my role as a public official and my sworn oath to fairly enforce the law. President Bush won the election by 537 votes - and to this very day there are angry liberals from Hwd to N.Y. City who still cannot deal with the fact that their candidate lost!
So please believe me when I tell you that I am still being blamed for President Bush's victory and all he accomplished during his five years in office. And no sooner had I announced my candidacy for the U.S. Senate, than I discovered that my liberal opponent was ready tapping into the vein of angry Democrats for money to destroy me on Election Day.
Bill Nelson barely won his first race in 2000 by a slim margin of 51%. And every VALID poll I have seen shows his reelection numbers below the 50% mark. These extremely poor polling numbers mean this pivotal U.S. Senate race is videotaping for us to win!!
As a native and fourth generation Floridian born in Key West, I have been proud to serve my State in the legislature, as Secretary of State, and as a U.S. Representative.
The people of Florida not only know my name, but they know my resolve and determination to always do what is right and to tell it like it is - no matter what criticism our liberal detractors in the Democrat Party hurl against me.
As a former IBM marketing executive and former vice president of a commercial real estate firm, I know what it's like to run a business and make a payroll.
I am honored to have earned a Master's Degree from Harvard University, and know my liberal opponent will never give me any credit whatsoever for being the TOUGH-MINDED and WELL-EDUCATED conservative Republican female that I am.
You see, I know my opponent already has the financial backing of inside-the-beltway liberal crowd of Trial Lawyers, Big Labor Bosses, and anti-family left-wing Special Interest groups in Washington, D.C.
They have and will pump enough money into his campaign to help him do and say whatever he wants to wage a war against me.
In fact, I have been told that countless numbers of liberal Democrat activists still smarting from the 2000 election recount are sending money from every corner of the nation to fund Nelson's liberal campaign."

Well folks here on Freeper, including the "professed" Conservatives who repeatedly have spamming for the "ass-naut's" unbeatablility, why not unite with the rest of us in the grassroots movement and support the great fourth generation Floridian, and trust me you won't find very many 4th. generation Floridian, except for my beautiful wife, residing within our State. So all you "anti-K.H. posters here who claim that your are true Conservatives and want the Senate seat in the (R) column, please join us NOW with your true support for Kathrine Harris!!!
Hmmmm???

St Petersburg Times and this Fink have shown their total lack of standards by concentrating on this frivolous issue .

What she was wearing is irrevevlent !

Is the St Petersburg Times owned by the Nuke York Times,
or is it run by that nasty little blog, Wonkette ?

They are nothing but a liberal rag.

Neither. The St. Petersburg Times (a/k/a Times Publishing Company) is owned by The Poynter Institute (Paul Poynter was an early owner of the newspaper, having purchased it in 1912, per the SPT History). There is no affiliation with the NYTimes.

In this picture, when she's not standing with her shoulders unnaturally thrown back, her breasts don't even look big.

Thanks for the ping to your 'token Texan' Julie. I doubt if it will bother Katherine one bit, women are often 'catty' about attractive women!

Right on danamco! Tell it like it is!

I salute Katherine Harris for her service to this country and her appearance!

Note to Ms. Fink: The last time I checked chic was still a choice.

It must be nice to live in a world (or is it the image of a world?)where the only issues are the make-up, hair and wardrobe of female politicos.

I can only wonder how Floridian Janet Reno fared under Ms. Fink's gimlet eyed gaze...oh dear, Janet reminds me of the Clinton admin which reminds me of that unfortunate blue suit with it's matching hat/bow thing worn by Hillary Rodham to her husband's first inauguration.

(I also wonder who made Ms. Harris's adorable suit. It would be great if it was vintage Chanel or something. Yummy.)

She just has not communicated that she is a strong, winning candidate in my judgment. She comes across as not ready for prime time. Those who have been closest to her politically for years have abandoned her.

Indeed, her presence makes Nelson look better in comparison. That's not the way to win. She will almost certainly lose.

Maybe if you were NOT an out of the State of Florida poster who are spamming for the "ass-naut"'s winning, you might have learned a little more about our GREAT congresswoman and former Secretary of State, who probably put a "stopper" on alGore's attempt to steal the President election i 2000! Just think about having alGore be the tenant at the White House at this very moment???
Very, very scary thoughts!??!
Please see my post 101, thanks!!!

Yes, well , if you insist! :D

When all is said and done, I'll continue to support Katherine Harris, and it's not her looks or how she dresses. It's her integrity and steadfastness that I admire and respect.

Those, including the Sharon Finks of the loser media, the shallow-minded cheapshot Freepers, and the nervous nellie GOPer's who relish her demise are irrelevent to me.

BTW, your post #101 is one of the best I've read on any of these Harris threads.Well said!

Off topic as far as dress, but this person's letter to the editor impressed me...

"One of my pet peeves against Bill Nelson is his vote against reversing President Clinton's 1993 tax increase on Soc. Sec. payments. I get mad every time I prepare my tax return.

Nelson voted eight times against repealing taxes. He also voted at least six times to prevent relief from the "marriage penalty" tax.

He voted three times against repealing the death tax".

Nelson also votes to uphold abortions and homosexual "rights".

Years ago, when we invited Nelson to speak at the Cocoa chapter of the Full Gospel Business Mens Fellowship International, he impressed me as a strong Christian.

But his votes in Congress have changed that opinion.

I have been very disappointed. A vote for Harris would be a vote to uphold Christian beliefs and produce a better Congress."

Nah, I can't. I don't live in Florida.

But in all honesty, as far as female candidates go, I think men do vote for someone that they could see themselves being with.

That's one of the reasons why Hillary will never win. That shrill demanding voice is poison to any man's ears.
