I have. Lots of complaints about illegal aliens, virtually nothing about legal immigration.
You seem to be the one injecting race into this thread.
These California kooks who think no Mexican Americans belong don't even know history. And the doofus Jimbaugh or whatever is the worst. Good God, not everyone crossed the damn border at night, many of these posts do sound like the stereotype of FR the press gives.
The fact that most illegals are from Mexico does NOT mean people think Mexican Americans "don't belong." Playing the race card is a favorite ploy of Liberals and others who hate America. I see you are playing it. Everyone can draw their own conclusions.
I think most of us kooks are quite aware that the SW belonged to Mexico. For a few years, anyway.
On the other hand, you're the Doofus if you think there was anything more here than a few spanish ranchers and native indians - and zero mexican indians. Mexico did exactly squat with the entire area, hence deserved to lose it to a better, stronger society.
I hope you don't have a problem with that.
During the entire history of both Spanish and Mexican "claims" to California (1) the majority of people in California was not Mexicans but members of native north-American tribes, (2)the land held under active jurisdiction and active administration by either Mexico or Spain was a small % of the land "claimed", (3)both Spain and Mexico refused their own obligations to affectively administer California, left most administration to the Church and by the time of California's independence had been financially letting even the Church infrstructure in California to decline.
When California declared its independence from Mexico, persons of Mexican or Spanish decent comprised less than 50% of the people in California and the first independent Governor of California was a man of mixed African-American and native Californian ancestry.
The Mexican claims to most of the southwest always were predominately at most the crown or the state making a claim, not excercizing it in a major, comprehensive, consistent, productive way.
