I searched but did not see a thread already open for tonights speech. I think this is the most important speech the President will probably make for the remainder of his term.
Mod Note:
This could turn into a whack-a-troll thread. All immigration trolls that would like to participate should post here. It'll be interesting to see if we mods can whack the trolls faster than they can sign up new accounts.
Jim
It was interesting I was listening to a congressman, on KFI64, on my way back home this evening (after the speech) and he was asked how his other congressmen felt about this and he said seven years ago I was in the minority along with a few other Western congressmen hearing from my constituents, but now I'm hearing from others in the house from all over the country and they are saying they are being bombarded with calls so I know it's not just a Western issue anymore...
I got home with dinner and didn't hear the rest, but it was an interesting interview.
Hi AH!
Great job the other day! Sadly, you're probably right - -easier to bash Bush and us than be informed. I think I've had enough 'enlightenment' here for 1 night ;-) going to head to the Dose, then to the TV. Chat w you soon!
Best,
SC
So has every other nation.
I am proud of President Bush. He gave a wonderful speech. He was balanced and well reasoned. I am glad that he didn't give in to the extremists who want to shoot every Mexican coming over the border.
President Bush didn't have to do this. He could have sat on the sidelines and let Congress hash this issue out. He showed real courage tonight.
God Bless you Mr. President.
10 minutes here.... we get everything an hour before you.
I can't go on... but believe me, based on what I've read, the Prez needs to seal all the borders. South, north, east and west.
Anyway... gotta get to sleep, now; I have kids.
'night, all.
So why don't we take a look at Mexico and see if we like what we see there?
"I bet Limbaugh and Hannity are all over this speach tomorrow saying how "it's about time!". Tancredo liked it a LOT and really supported Bush on this speach, and given the fact that he co-founded the Minutemen that says it all. As much as Tancredo liked this speach, I think those here who oppose it and are ragging on Bush for this speech really need to grow up and think about it. Tancredo likes the speach! That says it all."
I wish you would learn how to spell "speach" (speech). Four times is not just a typo. Tancredo only liked part of it. And, Rush will see right through this "speach" for what it really is, a grand deception. Even Hannity was hedging tonite about it, and will eventually, although slower than Rush, see it for what it is, a sham. Plus, Tancredo did not co-found the Minutemen. Get your facts straight.
I do agree with your statement......but I sure am frustrated right now.
Tancredo likes the speech.
Check post 1797. Cardinal4 called ideas_over_party a troll!
Hope you're doing well.
Well, I'm better than I was yesterday, but I'm sorry to say I'm not right (oooo, have I left myself open with that one!). I picked up something on the flight here and was about as sick as I've ever felt all day Sunday. I didn't even go down the peninsula to my Dads to see him and my sister's family. Again, I'm better today, but not enjoying myself.
he's not starting it in Seattle w a dinner at the Gates' house like the Chinese President recently had. He suspected that the only way Fox would get to see the Gates house is w a leaf blower.
funny. I'll have to be careful who I share it with, but very funny. I actually just got back from a small wine tasting party hosted by Microsoft. I wish I'd seen this before then. I had several high level MS and Gartner types at my mercy and that crowd would have really enjoyed the line.
Take care
I'm only to the point where one poster is calling another "racist" and the other is saying to one "you stink".
I love intellectual threads.
Back to scrolling.
We don't have enough water, enough housing, enough medical care, enough teachers, etc.
Can you imagine ten years from now when the 12 million become 100 million?
FR has been spun up on this issue quite a bit. People sometimes tend to forget that personal attacks only reveal a weakness on the side of the attacker, not the attackee. The best way to defeat a real troll is *nothing*. If a respected person has a view vastly different than you, then you have to attack their ideas point by point, not attack them personally. For that reason, I've restored my Adm. Rickover tagline.
It isn't true though. I watched Dobbs and both they both had issues with the speech. Dobbs hated it and was very upset.
It's not clear who started the rumor that Dobbs liked the speech but they are certainly in error.
THe 5+ year program is SEPARATE from the temporary worker program.
The Temporary worker program as Bush pitches it requires they leave when they are done, and does NOT offer a path to citizenship.
Right now we give amnesty to illegal immigrants. If we catch them, we do NOT punish them at all, we simply send them home.
Amnesty never meant you can keep breaking the law, it meant that we wouldn't punish you for breaking the law before.
So, it isn't "Amnesty" if we make them pay a fine. it IS amnesty if we send them home without punishing them.
So, oddly, the "deport them all" gang wants amnesty, and the President with his "5+ year pay a fine and back taxes" plan is NOT amnesty.
However, the "deport them all" gang doesn't give them citizenship. Bush's plan DOES. But getting citizenship is not "amnesty". It's getting citizenship. We should be chanting "No Citizenship" if that's what we mean.
Geeeze, maybe I was dreaming...
I was in the kitchen listening to the T.V. in the next room.
Time to "Q-tip" the ears?!
There is no way that the POTUS or Congress can address the problem of anchor babies. For that you need to thank the late Justice William Brennan. And the only way to reverse judicial tyranny is to continue to elect Republican presidents, senators and congressmen.
