Oh, is it now? I have been here for as long as you have. I have been nothing but a staunch conservative, but there are some lines that the government shouldn't cross IMO.

don't fall into the trap set by the left here. they want to shift the focus of anti-terror activities to claim this is some kind of witch hunt against the media.

if the DOJ suspected members of the media, and persons inside the various agencies, of exchanging/leaking classifed information - they could get court orders for the phone records of those persons in about 5 minutes. they don't need the NSA to do it for them as part of this program.

And even IF this latest program is constitutional, that doesn't answer the question of whether it is legal.

If it is Constitutional, it is legal. From what I have read so far, the NSA is only doing a mild version of what is possible under CALEA.

There is no "avenue" for someone with a security clearance to alert the public as to what is going on behind the scenes. We are better off when the government fears the people than when people fear government.

Yeah, and we all know that terrorists keep the same phone number for years and years! :::sarcasm off:::

Yeah, it's like gun control laws - they only impact the law-abiding.

Nope, something being constitutional does not make it legal. There are numerous federal statutes that may bar what is being done here. Try again.

"It's time for you to get some new cell phones, quick," the source told us in an in-person conversation.

I think their source is a cell-phone salesman. :)

You are quite defensive. What is your reasoning? I simply commented on your interesting posting history.

Even though I signed up late in 2004, your posting history is neither as long nor as varied as mine. Have you read the statistics of the many "sleeper" freepers signed up in 2004? The numbers are quite staggering.

I'm not saying you are, or are not a troll. AND when did you stop beating your wife...LOL

well with that attitude, all these agencies are essentially useless, unless they become politically monolithic. as soon as we provide "avenues" for people to leak selected information to discredit an administration they disagree with politically, we might as well shut them all down.

Bingo! And even IF this latest program is constitutional, that doesn't answer the question of whether it is legal.

For the records the phone companies voluntarily coughed up, illegality isn't at issue. For any other records, between the 1994 legislation and the Patriot Act, the gov't's collective butt is covered.

Sarandon in that picture looks like her husband has been choking her?? She looks very bruised up around the neck.

I think that's just putrefaction. She's dead from the neck up, after all.

I'm just not comfortable with killing an avenue for government watchdogs to come forward. I think more often than not, we as a people are better off when government is transparent.

That's probably how McCarthy wound up getting caught. Goss implied that they caught her based on "certain behavior". Yes, the CIA can investigate CIA employees particularly if you use their phone or email.

Thank you. It's beyond me how so many of us can delight in a program that puts the capital B in Big Government and erodes our traditional rights at the expense of traditional values. You're a patriot.

[My kids] were terrified. LMAOROTF. That is so ridiculous. I never heard such nonsense and I actually think she is s a decent actress, but she deserves an oscar for that sentence. How many kids are terrified just because somebody MIGHT be listing to your phone calls. I get such a kick out of the actors!!!! They all should just do comedy.
