BUSH: WE CAN'T BOOT 11M ILLEGALS

May 15, 2006 -- WASHINGTON - In his live, nationally televised address tonight, President Bush will tell Americans that it's impossible to deport the estimated 11 million illegal aliens living here.
"We must reject amnesty, but recognize that it is not realistic to round up millions of people and send them home," said White House spokeswoman Maria Tamburri in a preview of Bush's speech.
She said Bush plans to spell out his vision for sealing the border, enforcing the law, and "creating a rational system for workers to come into our country and to do jobs Americans won't do." Bush plans to visit the U.S.-Mexican border this week, and will dispatch his Cabinet to help sell the immigration plan.
The Senate plans to return to the contentious issue this week now that Republicans and Democrats have a deal to plow through controversial amendments. But the House and Senate are far apart on whether to put illegals on a path to citizenship.
Tamburri said Bush would call for "better equipment, increased funding, and advanced technology" to secure the border.
She didn't confirm press reports that Bush wants to expand deployments of National Guard Troops to step up border enforcement. Some Guard troops are already deployed in Arizona and New Mexico, but Bush is considering a big increase.
White House National Security Adviser Stephen Hadley said that enforcement was the Border Patrol's job - but then asked whether they needed help from the Guard on an "interim basis."
"This is not about militarizing the border," he said. The president is looking to do everything he can to secure the border. It's what the American people want."

I hope someone is listening. It doesn't seem that our President is listening. He seems more interested in what Vicente Fox thinks. When he called the Minutemen 'vigilantes' I knew he didn't have a clue about this issue.
And before someone calls me a Bush hater I worked hard to get President Bush elected. I just don't agree with him on this issue AT ALL.

Just out of Curiosity;
If you were law enforcement and saw "Jose" picking asparagus what would your approach be to asking "Jose" if he's legally here? If you say to ask "Jose" to see paperwork when all he was doing was picking asparagus would "Jose" be legally obligated to show you? If "Jose" was legal but because he was told "consequences" for not showing paperwork with the thought he was illegal, would that be a violation of his constitutional rights being he was just picking asparagus?

"Now, why would these folks (the radical left wing of the DNC)suddenly become all interested in immigration? My theory is that it is a two-fer: they have scared Hispanics with threats that the deportations are going to be massive and draconian, and at the same time have USED the Hispanics to scare Republicans and get the party fighting amongst themselves."
"So far, it's working like a charm."
Well said.

"So you can't really deport 11 million in a time frame which would be viewed by most people as "kicking them all out" and impacting on the problem. Deporting 1.5 million per year did not stem the influx. The total number in the country grew. The incentive to try remained because the success rate was still high." Which happened because the border wasn't controlled, not because we didn't have the capability to deport them.
"So, at the end of 10 years you may have deported 11 million, but you won't have deported "The 11 Million". So at the end of the day, you haven't solved the problem and you haven't addressed the legitamacy of the deport 11 million assertion. A nice dodge, but extremely transparent."
No, at the end of 10 years we could have potentially deported THIRTY million. And what's the point about "legitimacy"?? We're all agreed that these people are NOT here legitimately, so no "legitimacy" question arises.

You go from thread to thread accusing people who LOVE America of being hate mongers, do give me ALL examples where I am promoting hate and than look at your own posts. You attack individuals I DON'T!
Very true, stopem. This is why I never respond to this person and the others in the same category.
It's a waste of my time. However I'm very glad you did make this comment.
My tagline was born during the Miers nomination, and sometimes I feel strongly that I should make a few additions to it.

It would be my guess that most people with green cards can speak at least a little English...

And a couple of decades ago it was the Trilateral Commission. Aren't we already run from Bonn and Tokyo?
(Bonn is no longer the capitol of West Germany of course).

Sounds like Tony Snow either didn't tell him how we feel... or he got blown-off after telling him. Where is this idea about Tony Snow coming from? Snow agrees with the President on immigration.

It's not that we can't, it's that we won't. It's an insult for anyone to think we are that stupid. We can do any damn thing we make up our minds to do including deporting 12 million ILLEGALS (including how many CRIMINALS). I won't be listening to this crap tonight either. You go, girl!
This forum is going to explode tonight if he even tries to go there again.

Those are people who are caught in transit and don't have a job. Those who are already here, when caught, can request a hearing and plea for a green card, on the basis of being already employed. Really? The law does not differentiate between those who are 1 mile north of the border and those that are 500 miles north of the border. Neither does it differentiate between those who have jobs and those who don't.

My theory is that it is a two-fer: they have scared Hispanics with threats that the deportations are going to be massive and draconian, and at the same time have USED the Hispanics to scare Republicans and get the party fighting amongst themselves. Ah, a CONSPIRACY. Professional protesters managed to cobble together half of a million people to march through Los Angeles and kept it so secret that we can only theorize about it.
Makes perfect sense to me. Now onward to find out who murdered Wellstone and flew those planes in to the World Trade Center! Hurrah! /s

Why would these folks suddenly become all interested in immigration? California's Prop 187 passed 59/41 in 1994; Arizona's Prop 200 passed in 2000. Both failed to be enacted.
Border states are first-responders - asking why illegal immigration is suddenly a "new" issue is disingenuous at best.

If I wanted to be obnoxious, I'd point out that Nazi Germany was just enforcing its laws. That ain't the point.
This is about appearences and the political will to do the right thing. Mass deportation would sure LOOK ugly - and the comparisons to the Nazis would be valid. Like the Nazis, we'd be transporting HUGE numbers of people of under guard to camps where they would be confined under armed guard.
That combined with the everyday, hysterical, anti-American news coverage we get from the MSM would be all it would take to turn these things into "death-trains" and "death camps" if even a single illegal died in the process.
They would ignore the fact that the detainees are here illegally; that they NOT starving, NOT being murdered by their captors, they ARE recieving healthcare, and ARE housed in conditions comparable to (or better than!) what they have at home. The MSM is not on our side.
No politician could survive this sorta pressure, nor could any gub'mint agency.

"Bush plans to repeat his call for creating a temporary-worker program "that would allow foreign workers to enter our country in a lawful way for a limited period of time," said Tamburri." Indentured servitude. Cheap labor. Morally indefensible.
Your above response is pure leftwing claptrap.
Heck, if one is against a temporary-worker program for some other reason, then have at it.
But to claim it morally indefensible is to ignore that these people are not forced to come here.

Can't fight terrorism????
It seems to me there hasn't been a terrorist hit in the U.S. since 2001. That seems like a great record to me.
The economy is booming. I now don't have to pay $300 per month for my elderly mom's prescriptions (who cannot afford the bill). My investments are up. My business is flourishing. Yeah. Things are really bad. I am sorry so many Freepers have it so bad. Maybe counseling would help.
And for all the illegal immigrant haters here: Are you only interested in Hispanics?
To: mdmathis6; Dane
My kids need summer work and could do farm jobs if the migrants weren't around to displace them....many teens need part time work but can't find the work because of the illegals. What about those "Americans"!I was a bus boy and a janitor when I was in High School. I couldn't get those jobs today. When my son is ready for his first entry level job, where he is supposed to build on his work ethic and start learning work skills, those jobs simply won't be available to him.
They're jobs Americans won't do...
