I see Peter King is back on track after his stumble on the Dubai Ports thing (I think he was convinced by his longshoremen constituency to oppose that). I've liked King since his post-Katrina comments that the media was part of the problem in New Orleans.

Both The GOP and The Democrats are afraid of Backlash at the polls by Legal Hispanics. It's all about voting. They think that amnesty will make them eventually legal which means more votes for them. For the Democrats and Republicans in Congress its like one big Huge competition for the Hispanic vote. They don't care about the rest of the American voters. They disgust me.

Peter King is right on target for a change. It's pathetic that the Congressional response to the immigration outrage is to make the immigrants legal. They don't get it.

""I will oppose any legislation that allows illegal immigrants to stay in the country. No matter what you call it, that's amnesty, and it's a magnet for more illegal aliens," said King (R-L.I.)".

Good for King! Besides they don't deserve amnnesty all they want it for is so they can get even more welfare benefits and not worry about it being pulled from under them.

They get housing, SSI, Food, Utilities all for free and amnesty is their insurance policy to be able to keep it. They do not want to assimilate, they hate Americans, they hate Capitalism and yet the WhiteHouse insists on rewarding them.

Simple Proposal:

President Bush publicly asks Monday for 1,000 volunteers from each state National Guard.

Federalize the 50,000 troops, and put them on the border before next weekend.

GOP wins in November, in a landslide.

"Bush will propose sending National Guardsmen to guard the Mexican border and giving a chance at citizenship for millions here illegally when he speaks to the nation at 8 p.m. tomorrow........."

For me and for all I know, this simply will not fly. The National Guard on our border is a temporary solution at best. If the President doesn't speak of a permanent security system on our southern border that includes permanent physical barriers (walls and fences, complete with all the security devices available through modern technology), we will know he is not serious about a permanent solution, and, Mr. President, don't even speak to me about amnesty for immigration law breakers. Those who break our laws must not be rewarded for their criminality.

Not just NO, but HELL NO to Amnesty.

We need to send a message to ALL Republican incumbent Senators and Congresscritters. Vote for amnesty, and conservatives will STAY HOME OR VOTE THIRD PARTY IN NOVEMBER. I won't be voting for any amnesty-supporting RINOs in November. Illegal immigration and border security is my #1 issue when voting.

Bush is trying to turn the "shining city on the hill" into just another taco hut in the barrio

GOP SPLIT ON ILLEGALS

I know of quite a few who split the GOP over illegals. Most of them went to the Constitution Party.

The number of people supposedly eligible for amnesty keeps increasing.

This country could probably swallow a few million with some pain, but Heritage is speculating based on the language of the Senate Bill upwards of 50 million. This country simply CANNOT handle those numbers. That is a deal breaker RIGHT THERE. Besides which, we don't know how many we have. Shouldn't we have those numbers first? Even with current large estimates There is a huge difference between 12 million and 50 million. Nor is this all about Hispanics. What about illegal aliens from Russia? Europe? The Middle east? They can focus on Mexico all they like, but we have people from all countries abusing our laws. Are they included in the estimates too? If not, tack on more.

No, I reject amnesty and I STRONGLY urge the administration to step down from that proposal. I KNOW this is a trial balloon, and I'm giving fair warning to an administration I've supported and respect and still do EXCEPT on this issue. Do not propose guest workers. Do not propose amnesty. FOCUS on border security FIRST. Any other ideas you have will NOT be acceptable even for DISCUSSION until a) Our laws are enforced and b) you win people's trust that you are committed to respect of our borders. If you bring this up as the trial balloon suggests, I won't be trying to block the backlash. I'll be amongst the voices screaming "Hell No".

And I WILL NOT be voting GOP if this goes through. I'm not voting GOP now. I will reverse that decision if given good reason to do so. But scare tactics about Dems don't appeal to me.

As for King? We'll see if the House will back up their strong rhetoric. Their futures depend upon it.

If Peter King is serious, just have him send a couple of tractor-trailers and 50 ICE agents up to Van Cortland Park this afternoon, and ask for the Gaelic Football match.

House Homeland Security Chairman Peter King (R-L.I.) said he'd fight President Bush's plan to give illegal aliens a path to citizenship.

We've finally got someone from the People's Republic of NY State fighting for us. Peter King deserves a thousand kudos for doing the right thing.
