I think the media went over the edge w the Dims a long time ago. They continue to keep second guessing what the President will say or do, based on soundbites by congresscritters, 'sources say', annonymouse sources, government officials, etc. Then, when they don't get it right, they spin it and continue to spew lies. I'll decide if I agree or not w the President's position after I listen to his speech tomorrow night. I suspect the talking heads will be out with their heads spinning and mis-quoting what he says and/or putting words in his mouth, as usual.
It did seem to help Israel a lot. Of course, the environmentalists will scream to high heaven because critters can't cross the border at will, never mind all the trash building up in our deserts and finding it's way into our rivers and lakes.
Now I listen to Rush in the morning and that's about it.
I think this is one speech that we all need to listen to, very carefully. It isn't one to just rah-rah, like his SOTU addresses.
If we don't listen, and depend on the MSM, even Brit and his roundtable...we might not really know what President Bush means.
I know we usually have a LIVE THREAD for his speeches, and I guess we should....but, I am afraid that any rational comments will be overshadowed with the comments from the BC trolls...like almost every thread already is....sigh.
I think a rational, live thread would be a great idea -- sort of like the one ohioWfan ran this weekend.
Thanks for your part in making it accomplish exactly what I had hoped it would. It DID work.........for 48 hours anyway.
I think I'll probably stay away from FR tomorrow night. The gangs are roaming again, and rational thought is being smothered.
What happened on the other thread ONLY works with adults. And it only works with those who are self controlled.
Some people don't have it in them to be either......
Not just here on FR, it seems to be catching all over the web. I'll have to take a look and see the end of the thread, sorry it ended poorly, I thought you did a great job.
I have to regroup, and think about what was really accomplished. I was SO proud of the mature behavior and attitudes of everyone there. I was thanking God for what was happening.
I never thought that a gang would come in and destroy it all...........I am very discouraged right now.....
I am sorry to hear that oWf....I hadn't visited your thread today...
But, I just was looking at the thread that was Tom Tancredo's "letter" to President Bush, TELLING him what his speech tomorrow night better say...and better NOT say.
That thread is ridiculous...just like they all are, except your when it first started.
Poor sinkspur is still trying to talk sense into some freepers...he must love to argue, because I have seen him for days...and of course they don't "listen" to him.
As I said earlier, we always have a LIVE THREAD for an important speech of President Bush, but I don't see how we could have one without the whole thing be a Bush bash from the 2nd post on, probably. sigh
That is one aspect of FR that I really will miss...
Maybe we can "meet" on the DOSE, after the speech---NO IMMIGRATION TALK ALLOWED??? What do you think?
It's no use. No matter what Bush says, the mob is going to trash him, or say he's not doing enough, or that he doesn't really mean it.
Ohio's thread got infected, as every damn thread on this board is.
I'm with you sleuth. I'm going to sit out tomorrow night (or go right to the "24" thread after Bush's speech), and let the dogs bay and howl.
Personally, I don't enjoy the threads where everything is just one smart remark after another, and enjoy them even less when trouble makers show up. Some, even pre-'04's (vbg) seem to relish causing dissent on threads.
I think we all have a right to an opinion, but it's more interesting to disagree with someone who is actually giving reasons for their thinking instead of spewing insults...
LOL! Okay, Txsleuth, here's a problem. I don't have availability for a daily thread. Work doesn't allow FReeping and I work a long day. That's a good part of the reason why I had to resign from the Tony Snow Show Thread posting responsibilities. Plus I have taken a decision to go back for certification for my work, which means that my non work time just got a lot shorter.
These days, any thread on FR needs its own Moderator to try to prevent hijackings and/or FReeper-can't-tolerate-happy-FReepers-rant-a-thons. Just this weekend, we ran into the latter.
I could barely handle a weekly thread at this point-- even then I couldn't be sure that I could post it at the same time or day. I did commit to a monthly Cheers to Tony Snow thread, which I can keep. So I could help, but I couldn't reliably be the main poster at this point.
LOL! The good kind, def!
Bushbot Syndrome! :) I can't help it, I love the man!
:-) It's one of your better qualities
