As soon as there is a budget squeeze the first thing to be cut in DOD will be the resources for the NG on the border.

Then we will be back where we started, no fence and no security.

But taking steps toward putting the NG on the border will mollify people like O'Reilly and enough conservatives to get the Republican leadership past the next election, then it will be back to business as usual.

BUILD THE FENCE!

I suspect flim flam. W sends troops to the border, we all think " Gee whiz! He really is serious about border / illegal alien control ", his guest worker - amnesty for all bill is signed into law, troops removed from border a short time later.

I have read, and trying to find the source, that the NG would only be available on the border for one year and only in a support role...manning phones, etc. Don't know why but I see a Texas Two Step going on here.
