well, I'm here in Texas, although in a corner that actually had virtually no trace of illegals as recently as ten years ago. But, as I mentioned in another thread, I now find myself out shopping, and 50% of the voices I hear are in Spanish. It's astonishing how quickly all this occurred.
And, just a few weeks ago, a couple of illegals were out robbing a couple of quickie-marts in quick succession, and in their getaway, they rammed into a killed a local 18-year-old kid, who'd just taken on his first job. This happened only a few blocks down the street from where I live. This type of thing never used to happen around here. You can just see the whole area, and so many surrounding communities just going to Hell, and becoming third-worldish. There are times I'm driving through areas in which I don't feel like I'm in the good 'ole USA anymore.
So, yes, I'm MAD, MAD, MAD. The politicians have ignored this for years and years, and now they just want to surrender. My GOP representatives lean pretty strongly conservative, so I'm expecting to continue supporting them (unless they go the way of Bush-Kennedy). But, I have to admit, my long-standing support and loyalty to the GOP is extremely frayed at this point. If anything remotely resembling amnesty goes through... well... hard to say. I never fell for Perot or Buchanan back in the day. But, the GOP will really be 'mud' to me.
I'll stay at home but I won't be joining a purge, I vote by mail, for Repubs.

Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff on Wednesday waived environmental laws preventing completion of a 14-mile-long border fence that will run through coastal wetlands to the Pacific Ocean. According to the Los Angeles Times, the remaining 3.5 miles of fence are expected to cost $32 million dollars and will combine with two new roads, other fencing, lighting and surveillance cameras to form a “security corridor.”

You know, the RINOs might indeed be hoping to win the Hispanic vote (replacing you in the voting booth) by an amnesty. Nevertheless, if you go third party you are only making your vote more irrelevant. Get with other conservatives in your state and attempt to take the Republican Party back if you don't already have a good, conservative team in place. Tom Tancredo, for example, is already on our side. Do your best to give him some allies.
That has got to be one of the most stupid things anyone has said.

Don't worry about me advocating any demorat for anything. It will never happen. However, it is getting harder and harder to recognize the difference between the two parties and that is really unsettling. Or, as a demorat would say, "troubling".

Any decent American would bend over backward to welcome such a family!!! We owe it to those who come here respecting the rule of law to expel the illegals. If we let the illegals stay, we spit in the face of millions of legal immigrants--our dear friends.

Imagine how bad it will get after this farcical "amnesty" goes through - the illegals already feel entitled to that which they don't have a right to - this will just further strengthen their position to demand things, and get them.
I'm not the kind of person who desires or advocates civil disobedience, but I'm wondering what we need to do to make these useless politicians understand we the American people do NOT want amnesty for criminals.
The next few years look bleak, I'm getting that same empty feeling in the pit of my stomach when it looked like Clinton would actually lead this country.

EXACTLY! Fight like hell to put conservatives on the ballot in your state, but if they lose, support the Republican candidate. Otherwise, we'll be hearing "Hail to the Chief" to Hitlery soon.
The Senate has already indicated it has no desire to pass a bill as nearly as restrictive as HR 4437. They are hell bent on granting amnesty to the criminals already in country. The Senate is acting as if THEY are the government.

That's so obviously defeatist! I don't know your party affiliation, but anyone who follows your advice is going to make themselves totally irrelevant. I dislike the RINOs and everything they stand for, but a RINO is better than a liberal Democrat. The important battle isn't in November, you know, it's in the months leading up to the primaries. Use your vote to get the best deal you can!
Totally agree with that and your previous post #13. Giving the Senate or House to Dems is not an option, we'd just lose what we've gained in the last few years.
