U.S. tipping Mexico to Minuteman patrols (telling the Mexican government)
Daily Bulletin ^ | 5/9/2006 | Sara A Carter

Posted on 05/09/2006 6:21:25 AM PDT by IrishMike

While Minuteman civilian patrols are keeping an eye out for illegal border crossers, the U.S. Border Patrol is keeping an eye out for Minutemen -- and telling the Mexican government where they are. According to three documents on the Mexican Secretary of Foreign Relations Web site, the U.S. Border Patrol is to notify the Mexican government as to the location of Minutemen and other civilian border patrol groups when they participate in apprehending illegal immigrants -- and if and when violence is used against border crossers.

A U.S. Customs and Border Protection spokesman confirmed the notification process, describing it as a standard procedure meant to reassure the Mexican government that migrants' rights are being observed.

"It's not a secret where the Minuteman volunteers are going to be," Mario Martinez said Monday.

"This ... simply makes two basic statements -- that we will not allow any lawlessness of any type, and that if an alien is encountered by a Minuteman or arrested by the Minuteman, then we will allow that government to interview the person."

Minuteman members were not so sanguine about the arrangement, however, saying that reporting their location to Mexican officials nullifies their effectiveness along the border and could endanger their lives.

"Now we know why it seemed like Mexican officials knew where we were all the time," said Chris Simcox, founder of the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps. "It's unbelievable that our own government agency is sending intelligence to another country. They are sending intelligence to a nation where corruption runs rampant, and that could be getting into the hands of criminal cartels.

"They just basically endangered the lives of American people."

Once again do you have that spare $ 500 million in your back pocket to make all this happen?

I don't have all the answers either but it is the failure of the two party system that forces people to look at a third option. I will not blame the people who vote third party if the GOP loses power....I will blame the GOP.

Not much. The Liberatrain party will have my support this November ~ The South Texan

I'm sure you realize the Libertarian Party is passionately for open borders. ~ Jim_Curtis

Which is one of the two reasons why I'm no longer a member of that organization...

I've made my arguments and will not argue with you. I have too much respect for your stands on too many issues. You guys know how I think, no sense in beating a dead horse.

This is absolutely ridiculous. What laws have the Minutemen broke to deserve to be dragged threw the mud like this? It's disgusting!!!!!

If sitting in our damn lawn chairs, under a shady Palo Verde tree, while looking south through our binoculars, is a crime...then we are CRIMINALS in their eyes.

The Republicans will lose the house and the senate if this report is correct.

Rove counts on increased Hispanic vote to retain control :)

I'm mad as can be at this Mexico ass kissing.

When the hundreds of thousands of illegal invaders were marching in US streets under foreign flags a couple of weeks ago, and Bush was in Mexico being wined and dined by Fox, that was the final straw.

Instead of coming out against those massive demonstrations and protests, he gave consent. He failed in his duty to protect and defend The Constitution by giving in to foreign invaders marching under foreign flags in American streets. [The vision that came to mind was from the films of German soldiers marching under the Nazi flag into Paris.]

The Minutemen need a way to "vet" their volunteers.

They already do, and have for awhile now.

The only "skinheads" you see there now are the guys who have the naturally occurring extra face to wash in the mornings :)

Considering the nature of the invasion, maybe we'll end up with two significant new parties--"La Raza" and "Conservative"--

If done right, however, it could turn out to be a good thing. The ole Southern Democrats were basically conservative. Add to those the conservative Republicans and Independents. The combination could be greater than the remaining left wacko Dems and progressive rino big-government-screw-the-little-guy Pubbies. It could result in a viable, signifcant, substantial 3rd party that is neither Democrat nor Republican, but is true conservative party.

That would be the ideal outcome and likely the best for the nation. I'm afraid if legalization of current illegals goes through on immigration within a decade we will start seeing some very nasty events similar to Paris. Some people being forced out of jobs are gonna be mad. One deep recession would do it. Help wanted signs are a sign of a good economy. Not hiring signs as we saw plenty of in 1982 is not.

This is an outrage. I've just now sent Email messages to my Senators and my Representative about this.

TJ Bonner, president of the National Border Patrol Council, a union representing more than 10,000 Border Patrol agents, said agents have complained for years about the Mexican consulate's influence over the agency.

Hmmmmm.
