U.S. tipping Mexico to Minuteman patrols (telling the Mexican government)
Daily Bulletin ^ | 5/9/2006 | Sara A Carter

Posted on 05/09/2006 6:21:25 AM PDT by IrishMike

While Minuteman civilian patrols are keeping an eye out for illegal border crossers, the U.S. Border Patrol is keeping an eye out for Minutemen -- and telling the Mexican government where they are. According to three documents on the Mexican Secretary of Foreign Relations Web site, the U.S. Border Patrol is to notify the Mexican government as to the location of Minutemen and other civilian border patrol groups when they participate in apprehending illegal immigrants -- and if and when violence is used against border crossers.

A U.S. Customs and Border Protection spokesman confirmed the notification process, describing it as a standard procedure meant to reassure the Mexican government that migrants' rights are being observed.

"It's not a secret where the Minuteman volunteers are going to be," Mario Martinez said Monday.

"This ... simply makes two basic statements -- that we will not allow any lawlessness of any type, and that if an alien is encountered by a Minuteman or arrested by the Minuteman, then we will allow that government to interview the person."

Minuteman members were not so sanguine about the arrangement, however, saying that reporting their location to Mexican officials nullifies their effectiveness along the border and could endanger their lives.

"Now we know why it seemed like Mexican officials knew where we were all the time," said Chris Simcox, founder of the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps. "It's unbelievable that our own government agency is sending intelligence to another country. They are sending intelligence to a nation where corruption runs rampant, and that could be getting into the hands of criminal cartels.

"They just basically endangered the lives of American people."

I sent it to Michelle Malkin, Sandra Gunn at FAIR, and Bay Buchanan at Team America. Let Tom Tancredo get his teeth into this.....

Also, would be a good idea to call Frist, and give this as an example as to why the American people can't trust their government on immigration policy. Maybe it will stiffen his spine.

The, in re: Rush, I stand corrected. I don't listen to talk radio at all. I used to watch Rush on TV years ago. I usually agreed with what he said, but always thought I would probably find him obnoxious if I actually knew him. :)

And the RNC, The President and his cabinet just can't figure out his low poll numbers and why conservatives are not happy campers.

This belongs in the "WTF" category!

People, people--this is all just a big misunderstanding.
The function of the US Border Patrol is not necessarily to patrol our border and keep us safe from foreign invasion.
The BP's job is to expedite the introduction of as many Mexican "guest workers" into our country as possible . . .

.....Long awkward pause......

Let me rephrase that: Our mission program, as an imperative function, is to define territorial paradigms . . . blah blah blah blah

If Minutemen start getting killed by drug runners, they certainly have a case that the federal government was partially at fault for supplying the information to a corrupt southern government.

If I go third party, I think it's going to be Constitution party

When I was down registering my car last week, I picked up a change of party affiliation form.

I felt very sad, but after being a Republican since the days of Ronald Reagan, I will re-register as unaffiliated for the next election.

SPLC?

You just shot your credibility all to hell. They've been caught in more distortions and outright lies than Jesse Jackson and Bill Clinton combined.

Fact: part of the Minutemen screening process is a background check. They also try to screen out the White Power A-holes.

Get over it.

Gridlock is often our friend. Opposing parties in the Legislative and Executive branches prevent either party getting out of line.

I'm not at all convinced that Hillary Clinton would be worse than McCain. I may be very tempted to vote for her in 2008 just to immanentize the eschaton.

Interesting Free Republic poll this week, huh?

Yes indeed. I find it funny too, that when I tell my friends of the political atmosphere based on FR, they dismiss FR as a 'right wing web site' with a biased viewpoint. Their mouths drop open when I tell them that FReepers number over 200,000, more than enough to be a random sample for a poll.

Billy Boy lost his spine early in his first term. He would not even stand up against the DEMs out of control health care plan in Tennessee. A DEM ended up doing it believe it or not.

" More likely, a White House press release.

"throw off the self appointed rulers."

You throw off the self appointed rulers in a massive revolt on election day. We need to get organized for 08, a new third party, recurt candidates write a platform and try to get as many pissed off D's as we can, D's can be had over borders and "free trade", R's can be had over borders, spending, morals. We can take down the traitors in 08 if we act now.
