I have been a Conservative and Republican for 26 years, and I believe we have squandered much of our political capital in defending this Administration for actions that are inexplicable.
If you vote for the same, you'll get more of the same.
So far, the GOP aren't proposing any significant changes. It is more of the same. The Senate is battling between Frist's illegals bill and McCain's 'it really isn't amnesty--no--not really' bill.
In 04 Bush touted that he would tackle Social Security. Some opposition and that crashed. Were it not for the 2 SC appointments (and thank goodness the Miers fiasco backfired), the Administration would have little accomplishments to show in the second term.
Bush's 'I'd rather be bass fishing' may be more true than we know.

The truth of the matter is it's Iraq. The trend in casualties since October of last year is down, but last month saw a jog in that trend that lessened its sharpness.
There is a new Iraqi government to be installed this week. This is 100X more important than a border situation that has not changed for 30 years. If the Democrats moved even a little bit rightward these approval numbers would matter, but they have not and come November people will once again recognize that keeping them out is the only principled choice.
