"Stilted questions, stilted answers, stilted survey populations are at least partly to blame. I got a call from an automated pollster last night, listened to the first question and possible answers then hung up because I couldn't shoehorn my opinion into one of the choices, and "other" was not offered."

all true but none the less it seems his support with conservatives is at a low, and going lower as he stubbornly refuses to listen to his base.

IMHO, that's B.S. fomented by Democrat shills hoping that it becomes a self fulfilling prophecy, and trumpeted endlessly by loudmouthed ingrates and agenda hogs. No. I'm not accusing you of being any of the above. I just think you're wrong.
Perhaps I'm not part of the "base" which I took to be pro-life, pro-American sovereignty, pro-gun, pro-responsibility, and anti-tax. On all these issues, the President has hit one or more right out of the park. Where the great gnashing of teeth is happening (S.S, Medicare, and the criminal alien invasion), at least he's picked the scabs off some decades old problems that nobody really discussed doing anything about.
