Speaking about The Chronicles of Narnia, which in the run-up to its release was given a huge push by the Church, Swinton said: "I love the idea of goose-stepping old Walt D making over $700m with the help of a Red Witch. He is more than welcome. "At least we made her whiter than white, the ultimate white supremacist, and we managed to railroad the knee-jerk attempt to make her look like an Arab."

Huh??

I was thinking maybe English wasn't her first language... but then I realized it was and that the quote is probably taken so far out of context as to lose its meaning.

But even in context, I'd be surprised if she made much sense.

I can't understand any quote from her in the article. Strange use of words.

"In 2005, she starred as the White Witch in The Chronicles of Narnia, and had two other high-profile roles, as Penny in the Jim Jarmusch film Broken Flowers, and as Audrey Cobb in Mike Mills' film adaptation of the novel Thumbsucker."

And in the soon to be released smash hit, she will star as the Thumbsucking White Witch, with her lovable sidekick, Toesucking Dick Morris.

So she hated having to act in the moralistic Narnia movie and toe the line in the publicity tours, but she wasn't too principled to do it nevertheless and accept a paycheck?

I saw her in "Orlando" back in '93 and she looked like she was sleepwalking through her part. That was a hideously dumb movie that all the sophisticated hipsters praised to the skies.

To be perfectly honest, I thought she did a good job in "The Deep End of the Ocean" but in the Narnia movie she looked kind of dazed. And just where in "The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe" or for that matter "The Magician's Nephew" (where we first meet her) did C.S. Lewis mention her looking A-rab. She was supposed to look a bleached white due to an immortality spell but in the original illustrations she had raven hair (kinda "Morticia Adams" if you will).

Wonder if she'll be back if they make an adaptation of the "Magician's Nephew"? Of course, by the time they roll around to that movie, they can probably make her CG.

Tilda Swinton: And she doesn't look Jewish and she doesn't look like an Arab. I thought it was extremely irresponsible to make her look less than the ultimate supremacist, which is what she is. Make her as Aryan as possible. Apart from being a fantasy film, it's also a historical film. These are second World War children and their father's away fighting fascism. I though she should look like a Nazi. I actually throw in a Nazi salute on the Stone Table.

That's what passes for intellect on the other side of the ocean. Old Walt was a hideous goose-stepper. Everyone knows that. He also was a southern Baptist Jim Crow-era gun nut. Mickey Mouse is a white supremicist.

"At least we made her whiter than white, the ultimate white supremacist,"

Apparently she has never encountered a real one, say on the internet for example.

Perhaps one could somehow direct her to such a site, where she may hyperventilate and croak from suddenly knowing the reality of her horses--t accusations.

Tilda Swinton also took a fiercely political swipe at a "goose-stepping" Walt Disney, just months after she played a leading role in a highly successful Disney adaptation, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.

Well, given her attitude and beliefs, they picked the right person to play the White Witch. She's only shooting her mouth off because the White Witch doesn't appear in any of the sequels :D
