Funny, but we had Rear Adm. Sidney Souers, USNR, Lt. Gen. Hoyt S. Vandenberg, USA, Rear Adm. Roscoe H. Hillenkoetter, USN, Gen. Walter Bedell Smith, USA, Vice Adm. William Raborn, USN (Ret.), and Adm. Stansfield Turner, USN (Ret.) as heads of the CIA.
Many don't like Hayden because of his spirited defense of the Terrorist Surveillance Program and the fact that Congress was briefed on and approved of the program. Congress may not like Hayden's answers at the confirmation hearings because he knows where the bodies are buried.
Good point, which is exactly why I would like to see him in that post.
Good point
Did Rep. Hoekstra say that he doesn't want a military man at the head of the CIA because the CIA's job is to inform policymakers so they can...make policy, not to report to the military so they can plan action. It sounded like we-are-the-almighty-legislature-and-don't-you-forget-it. We needed more action and less bloviating before 9-11.
