But opposition to Hayden because of his military background is mounting on Capitol Hill, where he would face tough hearings in the Senate Intelligence Committee.

Did Rep. Hoekstra say that he doesn't want a military man at the head of the CIA because the CIA's job is to inform policymakers so they can...make policy, not to report to the military so they can plan action. It sounded like we-are-the-almighty-legislature-and-don't-you-forget-it. We needed more action and less bloviating before 9-11.

The opposition to Hayden because he is military, and would make the CIA too military seems to be a talking point. If the CIA was not invented for the DEFENCE of our country, what are we funding it for?
