It's not like Bush and the Republicans can't make a correction, you know. Just like with Miers, all he has to do seal the borders and all is forgiven.

Very true, but I have noticed that with the President it takes a lot to get his attention. Unfortunately I think it will be when the house becomes Democratic and then it is too late.

We are asking ourselves if they are going to vote like a democrat and act like a democrat whats the point of going to the polls? I hate to say it but I think the party bosses and the administration want a Democratic Congress. Then they can say when anything happens "Look we wanted to stop it but the Democrats blocked us", "Look what you got by not voting in 2006, you need us". We need to seriously consider forming not a third party but a party to replace the Republicans.

Ahem. If he seals the borders, we'll thank him but keep on watching.

I had high hopes after 2004. Really thought President Bush was going to show his true conservative colors. Boy was I wrong. If anything, he got more liberal and more stubborn.

So as much as I want to believe that President Bush and the rest of them will shape up in the next 6 months, I just don't think it's going to happen. If they do start trying to turn this Titanic around, it's probably going to be too late for many in the Republican party.

You know I would have a little more hope if President Bush even acknowledged that the border issue is one of the causes of his low ratings but when asked about his low ratings, it doesn't enter his brain at all.

I will vote Republican in 2006 and 2008 but I think quite a few of us will abstain. Something radical has to happen now because the iceberg is getting closer and closer. The Republicans have blown it big time.

First Miers, then the terminals, and now amnesty. It's tiring having to whack him with a two-by-four to get his attention.

What people here dont understand is Bush as a core belief believes in open borders. If he were to seal them, it would be one of the biggest flip flops in modern political history. It would show Bush to be nothing more than a crass politician. His approval ratings would not go up. The MSM would hammer him for being an opportunist.

Amazing how many people here want a GOP conservative version of Bill Clinton

I agree with you. W's life does not have to be this difficult. Seal the borders. Wait for 6-12 months to get the influx of illegals down to a trickle, THEN start talking about what to do with the ones here. I'm against amnesty, but we could come up with something, I'm sure. However, NOT until the border situation is secured.

Problem is, I don't think GW believes that there is an actual problem at the border. He thinks these people flooding in is just dandy. And that means, he is not changing his mind.
