""It's not like Bush and the Republicans can't make a correction, you know. Just like with Miers, all he has to do seal the borders and all is forgiven.""
What people here dont understand is Bush as a core belief believes in open borders. If he were to seal them, it would be one of the biggest flip flops in modern political history. It would show Bush to be nothing more than a crass politician. His approval ratings would not go up. The MSM would hammer him for being an opportunist.
Amazing how many people here want a GOP conservative version of Bill Clinton
Congratulations. I haven't seen analysis that bad since, well, come to think of it, I haven't ever seen analysis that bad.
Stick around, you'll be amazed at what the people here understand. You'll also be amazed by when you find out how wrong you were about what you thought you understood.
President Bush has said many times that he understands the importance of a secure border, he has promised to secure the border, and he has not delivered on that promise.
I do think you are correct that he has a core belief in open borders, but that is not what he said in any of his campaigns, in fact he has yet to say it.
Do you think his promises to secure the border, when now it is obvious he did not mean to do so have anything to do with the anger over the issue?
If he had secured the borders, he would have more support now for a guest worker plan. Anyone who understands the border issues knows that no guest worker or amnesty plan or even enforcement plan of any type will work without first securing the borders.
"What people here dont understand is Bush as a core belief believes in open borders."
Do you understand that it doesn't matter what his 'core beliefs' are? Do you understand that he swore an oath to defend this nation and the Constitution>
Do you understand that if he wants to get rid of that southern border, he must get both countries, in the appropriately massive numbers, to agree to annexation as a new state? (Or kick their ass and take it over as a territory?)
Do you understand that to do anything less is a violation of his oath, a failure to do his duty, and is a betrayal to this country?
