"Not that it matters, but I was -1.5 years old. Unless you were physically present, then we have exactly the same access to evidence."

Oh but it DOES matter. At 15 you still had the mind of a child seeing everything from a teenager's point of view. Mature adults viewing what happened at Kent State would form a much different opinion, due to their expanded vision of life :)

Why do you continue to argue about something you are so wrong on? There are none so blind as those that will not see...

"Oh but it DOES matter. At 15.."

Actually, that is negative one point five. As in my parents were still in running trials for my conception.

And no it does not matter. My opinions when I was 15 much less a year before I was conceived are irrelevant, I am now in my mid thirties.

Using my age at the time of the event to invalidate my opinions now is known as an ad hominem; An attempt to win the argument by attacking the person rather than the argument. Generally a sign of having no position to argue from but with your "expanded vision of life" I guess you already knew that.

I suppose you have no valid opinions of the civil war or WWII?

I'm eagerly awaiting replies from those that couldn't read -1.5 as one and a half years before you were born. ;)

No, you wont "listen"; that has already been MORE than proved, by your very own posts to this thread.

And not only are you refusing to look at facts, you are also completely uninformed as to what a "police" force is supposed to handle and what they are not! This absolutely WAS a case where the National Guard was called FOR GOOD REASON.

Oh for crying out loud...bullet casings are talked about, in detail, in the article, as are the holes in the metal statuary.

Evidence has "disappeared ONLY in your own delusional imaginings.

I saw the film on the evening news. I heard the pops before the guardsmen returned the fire.

As far I am concerned the guardsmen did not kill enough of the sobs.

I heard the Black guardsman say, "Nobody cares what happens to us, he then named someone and said that he got his kneecap crushed by a pipewrench last night but no one cares."

Well, he was wrong on that point. I cared. I was then and still am on the side of the guardsmen. and as I stated before, they should have killed more of the sobs.

The ONLY "conspiracy, is the one of your own making and the ONLY "cover-up" was the one that the MSM made; NOT any governmental one.

This happened a year and 1/2 PRIOR to your birth. All you know, is what meager bits and pieces you've read about. I SAW IT HAPPEN, AS IT WAS HAPPENING; AS AN ADULT! And I knew, KNEW, long before David Horowitz finally "turned" and decided to tell the general populace the facts about those bad old days, who was behind ALL of the acts of violence and rioting, that the MSM pretended and still pretends wasn't so.

You keep talking about "NOTHING" happening. WHAT THE BLOODY HELL DO YOU IMAGINE SHOULD HAVE HAPPENED? That the government was going to round up all of the damned, stinking American Commies running SDS, the Yippies and hippies and publishing RAMPARTS and THE EAST VILLIAGE OTHER, who were getting their orders and funds from the KGB and put them on trial?

Bwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

Frankly, it doesn't matter that you're in your 30s right now. You could always have availed yourself of reading matter which WOULD have made you better informed about those times; but you haven't! So, yes, it IS incumbent upon you, to actually listen to those who WERE alive at the time, have no reason, whatsoever, to lie about what actually happened, and are posting to this thread. Sadly, you appear to much prefer to spew LIBERAL propaganda and your own delusions.

A far better question to ask, than the one you repeatedly have...i.e. "WHAT REASON DOES THE GOVERNMENT HAVE TO COVER UP EVIDENCE THAT WOULD EXCULPATE THEMWHY IS IT THAT I ( you ) AM POSTING AN IRRATIONAL, IRRELEVANT QUESTION ABOUT SOMETHING I ( you ) KNOW ALMOST NOTHING AT ALL ABOUT?

The Federal government had nothing at all to do with any of this.

The police, in Ohio, couldn't handle the situation.

The Governor of OHIO called out the National Guard; as he should have.

Are you under the misapprehension that the president was the one who called out the Guard and then gave orders for them to shoot down anyone who moved on the Kent State campus?

You wanna talk about past history? Fine......LEARN SOME FIRST!

BTW, during the DRAFT RIOTS, in N.Y.C., during the Civil War, the police couldn't handle that and so, THE GOVERNOR OF NEW YOUR STATE CALLED OUT THE NATIONAL GUARD! It most assuredly was NOT President Lincoln!

Though I was not "physically present", at Kent State, this whole mess WAS on T.V. and I witnessed it!

Are you of the opinion that unless I was at ground zero or on one of the planes, on 9/11/01, that I have NO idea what transpired that fateful day?

Trust me, seeing something happen, LIVE, on T.V., is just about as "good" as being there and far and away, much better, than reading about it many years later!

Thanks for the agreement! :-)

There were a LOT of "URBAN LEGENDS" back then, which were so ridiculous, that it's a wonder that they got the traction they did. Though some were later ( YEARS later ) refuted and disputed, sadly, some people still believe them. *sigh*

bookmarking so I can go eat dinner. And that is why history is so important - so you don't repeat it.

I hope that one of these days the commies/socialist radicals involved in the recent "Immigration" rallies don't stir up enough trouble that this happens again. The few instigators go free, some innocents get killed, and the "Poor Immigrants" are all granted amnesty and the border is swung open.

He wasn't even born! LOL

And yes, many times age DOES matter; in more ways than the very young are willing to allow.

Nobody,NOBODY, who was little, or who wasn't even born in the late '60s early '70s, will ever really be able to understand what those times were really like. No book and most assuredly no contemporaneous newspaper or magazine, is going to be able to allow someone who didn't live through those years, a true understanding. It was all so visceral; so of the moment and emotional, that the written word is a difficult medium with which to transfer it all; let alone actually being able to find unbiased reportage of it.

Yes, he was wrong... LIKE YOU, I CARED; I CARED VERY MUCH!

Yes, the Guardsmen shout have killed more of them and it's a shame that the Chicago police were kept in such check, during the Dem Convention of '68!

Even if there was no sniper; they acted properly. In fact, they restrained themselves too much. I feel they should have killed all the bastards attacking them, plus the agitadors; and I make no apologies.

Dad! I see you sitting there in the Lazy-Boy chair, can of PBR (Pabst Blue Ribbon) balancing on your knee, cigarette clenched firmly between your lips. I know you're mad, that vein thing is throbbing on your forehead.

You're yelling about "all this hippy shit!" and telling me to get some pants on that look like pants, not a damn skirt. You're yelling at my brothers to cut their hair, and telling me those love beads will choke me one day. And you're telling me this war (Vietnam) is right (the war that was the backdrop for my entire school life and mentioned only at the supper table and on the news...never in school), this president (ah, tricky Dick!) is right, and all us damn kids are a buncha pinko Commie fags (had to go to college to learn that a fag was not a British cigarette!) for questioning the actions of the government. Nice to know some things never change!

Help! We're turning into our parents!

Gotta comment:
"The military are to trained to kill, sometimes it needs to be done and they do it well. If you use the military for what is a police action these things will happen. We can debate the need for and wisdom of using military forces for police work, but that is for another thread...The "sniper theory" has as much evidence as the guy on the grassy knoll."

1. I listened to the radio reports, several times, watched the TV coverage, several times; and EVERYBODY on scene was focused on the grassy knoll....might have been an echo but I'll never believe that interpretation.
2) "The military is trained to kill".
ROFLMAO (a lot), don't confuse today's National Guard with yesterday's national guard. The guys at kent were more afraid of the rioters and hippies than the other way around.
3. (add) Any sympathy for the dead 'students'?
...............NO - I miss that as an option.

I'm ashamed to say that all I knew about Kent State, I learned from a Neil Young song.

Hope Neil Young will remember

Agreed. Maybe the reason we're sort of numb to horrible things now is because we grew up under a cloud of horrible. Sure, we had great music and good drugs, but we still lived in a culture of fear.

Let me tell you something please.

If there was no such thing as the internet or cable tv, Kent State would be happening again by now.

There are a lot of idealistic brainwashed college students who would do more than toss a whipped cream pie.

One can only imagine the opinions on a lot of Freepers if that event repeated itself today.

It seems like there are so many more people each generation that have been brainwashed into being PC and apologists, that our country's dynamics have changed.

These liberal teachers have had such an affect on the last couple of generations...it's pitiful. My grandsons are 11 and belong to an AR reader program through school. They get rewards for reading so many books. Thursday's reward was a set of picture cards of "Patriotic Americans". One of the cards was captioned "Yassir Arafat donating blood for Americans." How can these educators get away with this crap?

I really worry about what happens if the average American is put in a position they have to fight for their survival. So many will be totally unprepared to handle any of it.
