I'm ashamed the way Republicans leaders are responding to gas prices, illegal immigration and spending.
They've abandoned us on these issues and sound more like dems every day.
But they are still the best on our nation's defense, gun control and other issues, but how long before they start moving the dems way on these also?
The best we can say now is that they are the lessor of 2 evils but the gap is getting smaller.
" Course there could be a shadow government.. directing all this confusion to appear like confusion.."
You mean like the msm?
The republicans are again clueless and w/out spine. Surely someone on the Hill will grow a set and show some leadership? Yeah, right. It's an election year. Status quo quick fix time is in the air!
"Republicans on Capitol Hill are deeply divided over how to respond to escalating gasoline prices, with some proposing new taxes on oil companies, some calling for investigations and others willing to ride out the storm on the forces of the free market. "
And what is the Democrats position? I don't seem to recall that the MSM is driving the Windfall Profits Tax debate.
The MsM, the MsP, and academia, hollywood, NEA, all Unions, and many other vectors are merely tools of the shadow givernment.. The shadow givernment is a PimP..
'Will somebody please explain the difference between Republicans and Democrats these days? I'm having a hard time seeing it right now. "
Difference is the Republicans are at least trying to give us the impression they are doping something constructive.
The RATS are just saying tax tax tax.
I don't see whats so hard about this. Eliminate the Federal Gas tax. Eliminate taxes on oil companies, allow drilling in ANWAR and elsewhere, remove fuel 'madnadates', remove fuel 'formula' mandates, eliminate EPA rules, reduce regulations. Basically, remove government from the energy industry!

"Sorry, but $100 doesn't satisfy anyone except those who will run out and spend it on crack."
The Republican Senate who came up with this idea is obviously a ship of fools.
Am I supposed to feel good about being offered $100.00 back out of the ridiculous amount of taxes I pay?
Pandering whores!!! Sickening!
Seems they could simply undo what Clinton-Gore did with tax increases and reformulation.
If they're bent on spending tens of billions of dollars in a vote-buying scam, I can tell them how to do it and actually do something constructive at the same time. Instead of trying to buy our votes by giving everyone a measly $100 rebate check on gasoline, use all of that money to fund research and development of coal-to-oil and oil shale technologies. That may or may not be an ideal solution itself, but its much better than mailing everyone a pitiful rebate check that'll be gone in a week. And it'll convince a lot of people that they're serious about solving the problem.
If they want to buy some votes, that'll do it.
