Post #35. "Well, you could take a leisurely stroll over to your closest tech high school and ask the soon to graduate students who is their biggest threat to getting a job in their chosen field. Guess who?"" And my response was that "the honest answer would likely be their dope-addled minds" which brought a response from that you couldn't be a druggie and handle the complexities in repairing a Beamer, and basically I agree.
So if these kids can fix a Beamer they are not druggies and have nothing to worry about as far as illegals.
Of course, if they don't have that set of skills you implied they had . . .
Anyway, around here, the troublemakers are usually pushed into the vocational-technical program. Now, not every kid in vo-tech is such and many often end up getting a valuable education and doing real well, but they are not the ones who seem concerned about losing their job to an illegal (actually, they would be more likely to be hiring them).
The ones who are concerned about losing out -- at least in the rare times they may be cognizant that they may one day actually need a job -- are the burnout types.
And truthfully, if I had to make a choice between hiring an illegal or one of these burn-out types, I think I'd go with the illegal.
"Anyway, around here, the troublemakers are usually pushed into the vocational-technical program."
I'm glad I don't live where you do.
I like the fact that I can deal with fellow classmates on a business level for my construction needs, my plumbing, heating and electrical needs as well as auto repair. Quite a few very successful businessmen in a 50 mile radius of my home town graduated from my tech high school (way back when...) We all (legit business owners) lament the fact that illegals are having a negative impact on our livelihoods.
"So if these kids can fix a Beamer they are not druggies and have nothing to worry about as far as illegals."
Unfortunately they do.. you see too many of the NEWER business owners are illegals themselves.....or if they are not, do not think twice about hiring illegals. This leaves the recent grads without any chance to get the much needed "apprentice" level jobs in their trades.
As I stated to another poster..... don't take my word for it. Stop off at a local trade school and ask around for yourself.

The last part of your statement is unfortunately true.
