"Anyway, around here, the troublemakers are usually pushed into the vocational-technical program."

I'm glad I don't live where you do.

I like the fact that I can deal with fellow classmates on a business level for my construction needs, my plumbing, heating and electrical needs as well as auto repair. Quite a few very successful businessmen in a 50 mile radius of my home town graduated from my tech high school (way back when...) We all (legit business owners) lament the fact that illegals are having a negative impact on our livelihoods.

"So if these kids can fix a Beamer they are not druggies and have nothing to worry about as far as illegals."

Unfortunately they do.. you see too many of the NEWER business owners are illegals themselves.....or if they are not, do not think twice about hiring illegals. This leaves the recent grads without any chance to get the much needed "apprentice" level jobs in their trades.

As I stated to another poster..... don't take my word for it. Stop off at a local trade school and ask around for yourself.

"not every kid in vo-tech is such and many often end up getting a valuable education and doing real well, but they are not the ones who seem concerned about losing their job to an illegal (actually, they would be more likely to be hiring them)."

The last part of your statement is unfortunately true.

We can certainly agree that illegals are a problem and that we have an obligation to maintain our border.
