Very true.
A groups of us were talking about it many of whom has seen it. And the opinion was that few films have elicited anywhere such strong reactions - something I have heard mentioned several times. In addition to "The Passion of Christ," other films mentioned that evoked strong emotional responses were "Bravehart" and "Black Hawk Down."
My feeling is that it will grow this week. It has had less of a box office drop than the other movies yesterday.
Just arrived home a half hour ago from seeing the movie 'United 93'. Very intense, found myself fidgeting during the movie which is something I rarely do. Bottom line great movie ... the only issue I have, apparently for dramatic effect, the hijackers used dual edged dagger like knives instead of box cutters. Knives of that type would not clear security, even before 9-11.
Yes, it could have been any of us...just normal people going to their destinations...normal people with normal joe lives...
This movie "United 93" has been on my mind a lot..especially today for some reason. Like others here on FR, I got angry with tears in my eyes when I saw the film...a mixture of anger, sadness, helplessness.
I still do when I think of that film.
I saw the Passion of Christ, I too cried. But I didn't get angry in that film, for I was the reason He was on the cross. I didn't get angry when I saw Private Ryan (first 15 minutes worth). This film is different in so many ways than those 2 films. This happened 5 years ago, so so recent. So damn fresh on people's minds. It's like we just pulled a scab on the wound of 9/11 when we saw this film. The emotions didn't disappear, it just gushed out all over again.
I am not saying this pulling is bad..it might be for the good. For what it has done for so many people(including myself)is that we was actually slapped with the reality of 9/11 with the viewing of this film. We thought that day was buried and gone, but it has not. The reality is still with us and we simply forgot about it because of the horror, the pain, the shock of 9/11. I am going to get the DVD and show it to all who is willing NOT to forget what happened on that dark day. We must NOT forget what we are fighting against...not a people, a race, but a philosophy, an ideaology that is going to kill us all if we don't get our heads out of the sand and do something now.
yeah. Just saw it this afternoon. I went with my independent/liberal leaning boyfriend. He cried. Before he dropped me off he said, "Everyone who lived through 911 needs to see this film."
I too know many muzzies, and many expressed their hatred of America and blamed the Jews for 9-11
The last movie I saw at the theater was Titanic in 1998. (Well, maybe I went to one in 1999?)
Anyway, I went to see this Monday afternoon. It is great and I recommend it highly.
What the passengers did on United Flight 93 that day represents the FIRST victory in the war on terror!
The hijackers had the Capitol Building as the intended target.
