On the ACU ratings, the higher the score, the better. 100 is a perfect score. I would say his 2004 score is pretty good. These folks got 0: Corzine, Durbin, Kennedy, Lautenberg, Leahy, Murray, Reed, Sarbanes
I made the point on the Ohio Board that DeWine has a lifetime ACU rating of 80 and Sherrod Brown has an 8.
Since we have 55 Senators, and Collins ranks 44th -- that means only two 'Rats rank more conservative than Collins. IMHO only Chafee and Jeffords (before he jumped) qualify as "Rinos".
The idea that DeWine is in a close primary election is laughable. I hope his opponents draw a lot of support tomorrow, because I don't really like DeWine and his leftward drift, but incumbent Republican Senators rarely lose primary elections.
I find the people who use the term "RINO" the most are the same folks who openly hope for Republican defeat this year, vote third party, and/or claim no difference between the parties. In other words, they suffer from terminal cases of projection.
68 is good?
That was always a D when I went to school.
68 is south of the mendoza line for a Republican.
Hey sink, I want a Republican with conservative values.
DeWine is prolife, a johnny-come lately to defense of traditional marriage, and is arguably not conservative on any other issue, as Pierce has noted:

DeWine will abuse his seniority to prevent drilling in ANWR, allow permissive illegal immigration, continue to spend money like mad (4th worst National Taxpayers Union rating for a Republican, better only than Chafee and the two Mainers) ..... is that what "we" want seniority for?
If seniority is your last remaining argument, I think it means you're out of arguments. At least consider giving DeWine a scare. Vote Pierce.
I'm in Texas. I can't vote for either one.
The point is that the socalled RINOS have better voting records than the Dems and that in a state like Ohio a "RINO" has a better chance of beating a Dem than does a conservative.
No duh
and that in a state like Ohio a "RINO" has a better chance of beating a Dem than does a conservative.
How would we know? Have we tried? We are not Maine.
Maybe I'm wrong. Ask Common Tator what he thinks.
No thanks.
I am voting Pierce.
ES,
That was the same argument used against Reagan when he ran, the same argument used, against W when he was being compared to McCain, the same argument used I'm sure against Santorum at the beginning of his Senatorial career.
The fact is that in most states, if you can motivate the conservative and center-right base to come out, it will overwhelm the libs and the center-lefts. We just don't try it often enough in Ohio. NOW, with a "moderate" senator who creeps further left with each passing day (just wait til you see how liberal DeWine gets if he decides after he's elected that he doesn't want to have to face the voters again), is the time for a change.
Vote for Pierce if you're in OH.
Ok. You have me there. I did vote for RR in the primary when he ran for California governor, and then again for President.
