A large group is headed south on Main near the Reagan Builindg chanting "USA USA"

This same group is carrying American flags but alos many MExican flags as well.

A mixed message at best.

Illegals are a bargain to employers

Which is why a guest worker program will never succeed. The only reason illegals are hired is because they are illegal. Once legalized, they would be entitled to freely participate in the job market and enjoy all of its attendent rights & priviledges - like getting terminated because they would no longer provide any economic benefit to their employers.

Imagine being saddled with all the wages, benefits & insurance costs (like worker's comp) associated with hiring citizens, but in return you still get low-skilled, uneducated, illiterate (can neither read nor right) employees. Yeah, that's really gonna work out.

No time to read this whole thread but I have not seen any businesses closed. Bought some clothes in a department store earlier, and will have had breakfast, lunch, and dinner at restaurants by the end of the day.

Did not effect the northern portion of Atlanta either - not sure about downtown were the rally was organized. I'm sure some lawns didn't get mowed and some houses didn't get painted but that will just get done tomorrow.

I did see hispanic landscaping and painting crews around the neighborhood though.

POSTSCRIPT:

Now there is a guy on a bull horn shouting in SPanish and .. .

. . . now he's trying to get them to sing something in Spanish to the tune of "We Shall Overcome"!

BTW . . . 99% of the speakers and chants have been in Spanish -- assimilation doesn't appear to be part of their aspirations.

Chicago:

"Chicago-based Azteca Foods Inc. idled all three shifts at his southwest side plant on Monday to allow workers to attend the rally. About 120 of the 140 people who work Azteca took the day off.

“We supported the march and closed our production,” said Mr. Valasquez.

Harry Caray’s restaurant in River North is one of the restaurants that posted the trade group’s notice in the employee break room.

“We told the staff we fully supported them if they wanted to go,” says Grant DePorter, president of Harry Caray’s. “The chef showed up today, on his day off, to make sure there weren’t any issues, and there haven’t been.”

McDonald’s Corp. issued a statement earlier Monday saying it supports comprehensive immigration reform, but noted it’s a complex issue.

“Some of our employees may be participating in today's activities,” the Oak Brook restaurant chain said. “We respect their right to do so. To meet our customers' needs, some of our restaurants may be operating with limited crew, limited hours, or drive-thru service only. “

Meaning you never have eaten at McDonald's. Tyson supplies all their meats

####

Without knowing that fact, I decided a good many years ago that McDonald's food was not "good for me." LOL!

I couldn't agree more. As soon as the illegals become legal then they will be unemployable.

The only way a guest program would ever work would be if the employers were responsible for sponsoring the guest workers. The employer would have to be responsible for all debts and social services that the worker accrued. Also, only workers could come - no non-working spouses or children.

Of course no employer would use a guest worker under these conditions as they would just hire true illegals.

You post basically proves what I have noticed here in LA today ... that Hispanics are heavily in the food service industry.

That is a pain, but it does seem like it might work for raspberries because of being completely immersed in the water--maybe a large bowl instead of the sink, even with the bleach.

If you haven't had any problems before now, I wouldn't worry about it. That happened to me 2-1/2 years ago.

Guess what, most found their way across the border again.

I haven't read all the posts about this because my blood pressure is dangerously high.
I do want to thank all the good, kindly "seekers-of-the-American-dream" who do the dirty jobs Americans won't do and marched in our streets.
I want to thank all the newspeople who are at this very moment extolling the virtues of the great unwashed.
I want to thank all the bottom feeding lawyers who would defend Lucifer himself and not bat an eye until his check cleared.
I want to thank the scores of "teachers" of our young who have brainwashed our kids into thinking that our Country is the worst in the world.
I want to thank all of Hollywood for the anti-American crap they purvey. Last but by no means least,I want to thank and forever curse, all the gutless, spineless, politians from the TOP to the bottom, who care so little for the heart and soul of this country they sold us out for 30 pieces of silver.
(I just realized: Most of these people are paid with our hard earned dollars. WAKE UP FOLKS!!) .

I cut my visits to McDonald's too. I went shopping today although I wouldn't done it had it not been for the illegals outraging me. And the politicians. I think it becomes clearer each day that a 3rd party maybe our only choice.

As soon as the illegals become legal then they will be unemployable.

And as soon as they become legal and unemployable they'll vote as a bloc for the Democratic Party.
